Sad to see Rodney Austin go though, I hope he clears waivers and makes it to the PS. But more importantly, with both Green and Greenwood out, we absolutely need a starting quality CB. Slay has improved but not to a point where he can cover the NFC north receivers consistently, and Mathis is one injury away from retirement. If Mahew wants to win now, he better make a blockbuster trade.

Edit:
Just saw that Leon McFadden was cut by the Browns, it would be wise to after him immediately.

With just 5 CB's on the roster, it looks like they're setting themselves up to sign another team's cast-off. If this Leon McFadden guy is any good they should take him. <EDIT> Here's a link to McFadden's Wikipedia page. So he was a high 3rd Round draft pick last year (#68):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_McFad ... ootball%29

He must have really done something to mess things up if they're cutting him after just one season. On a Browns page it says he's the 6th Cornerback and that there's nothing really wrong with him other than being on a team that's stacked at CB:

Wouldn't he have to clear waivers before the Lions could sign him?

So, in other news, with all the cuts, does this mean that Couplin the Osprey makes the roster? I'm hoping they can find room for both him and Quddus.

What's the difference between someone being released and someone being waived?

Happy with the cuts so far. A shame the young corners didn't live up to (supposed) scout hype, but I kind of expected that. Could really do with a decent pick up on that score from somewhere.

So, if they were to bring in Leon McFadden or another CB castoff as a 6th CB, who would they cut? Travis Lewis, Ogletree, and Owens seem like good candidates.

I was hoping Peacock would make it. But, Practice Squad for him probably.

Or they could IR KVN with the return designation.

Champ Bailey was cut by the Saints too. Obviously he's 36 so not a starter anymore, but wonder if he signs as a position coach somewhere down the line. He could probably fill in as a veteran rotational player.

Can't do the IR with designation to return until Tuesday.

Since there are 9 teams ahead of the Lions and probably 8 of them need CB help, not likely McFadden will be around very long.

Didn't the Chiefs just use a 2nd round pick on K Ryan Succop a couple years ago? They cut him today.

Are we really going into the season with only 2 guards?
