Will have to read up, but hope it works out.

Some players excel at camp but are totally different players once defenders are actually hitting. I'm also not sure what level of DBs he is typically going against. They don't even do any bump-and-run coverage in camps like these.

We've seen plenty of camp stars wearing shorts but once the pads go on and bullets start flying they are no longer the same. That said, I'd rather be hearing good things rather than he has hands of stone...

Why aren't we talking about this guy more? I know there is a training camp darling every season, but this guy seems legit.

Next Gen stats put Kenny Golladay's Lions debut in better perspective

Kenny Golladay had the best debut by a Lions receiver since at least Calvin Johnson (better, if you judge on touchdown receptions), a performance that's even more impressive when seen through the lens of the NFL's Next Generation stats.

Golladay caught four passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Lions past the Arizona Cardinals, 35-23 in Week 1.

The rookie third-round pick was clocked as the fastest Lions player in the game, reaching a top speed of 19.43 m.p.h. on his 45-yard touchdown catch, and he ranked among the league leaders in air yards per target.

On his seven targets, passes to Golladay traveled an average of 17 yards in the air.

Just three players (with a minimum five targets) averaged more than 20 air yards per target: New England Patriots receivers Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan, and San Francisco 49ers speedster Marquise Goodwin. Golden Tate, the next closest qualifying Lion, averaged 5.7 air yards per target.

While Golladay clearly has established himself as one of the Lions' top deep threats, offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said it's important to keep expectations in check for the rookie.

"Kenny’s done a nice job. He’s getting better every week," Cooter said. "Sometimes you get a couple of balls in the air maybe way down the field or maybe red zone, you go make those plays. I doubt the guy gets two (touchdowns) every week, so if fans are expecting that, that’d be a little bit of a tall order. But he’s doing better, he’s getting better. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, he’s going about things the right way."
