It's Cardinals at Lions. But, it took all of 3 minutes for the Lions season to start whirlpooling around the toilet bowl.

Who'd a thunk we would win this game after the first quarter?

And where is everyone. Is everyone dead? Game day, and nothing but crickets in here.

Well turns out the dline isn't that bad. The defense as a whole looked pretty damn good, they played well at all three 3 levels. Offense still doing the slow start thing, but they showed good resilience with all the early miscues.

lol I was just planning on reading your doom and gloom posts the whole game, but you didn't bring it.

I didn't get down at all during the game. They were showing up on d the whole game and Stafford always has a shot if things stay close.

Offense did what it was supposed to, defense was a pleasant surprise. Beating a talented roster with a good head coach by multiple scores bodes well for next week against new york

Nice win. Defense played very well and glad the offense were able to get clicking. Looks like all you that said we had found a gem with Golladay were correct, what a welcome to the NFL.

Still too many stupid penalties, and special teams is kind of a mess, especially with the loss of our backup punter.

DLine was helped by the Cards losing their LT early in the game, but otherwise they harassed Palmer all day. Several bad calls by the refs but we overcame. Washington should not be on returns ever. TAKE A KNEE!! Still need to figure out how to run the ball.

Shopping the waiver wire for a punter now. That sucks.

Secondary looked good.

Still think Ngata should retire.

I wish we would have drafted Hunt and still got Goliday somehow.

That was a pleasant surprise of a game ... in the end. I expected the defense to be porous this season, but they held up really well against what is expected to be one of the NFL's better offenses. Only gave up one proper drive all day. Keeping the Cards to a FG, after they had first and goal twice thanks to special team errors, was very impressive. And the takeaways were great to see. Impressive work by Austin.

Offense looked decent, too. Good to see JBC stick with the run to keep the D honest, even though it wasn't producing, and the TD from Gollady off play-action was a nice reward for that. Gollady looked like the pre-season hype could be justified, and his addition to the team is good news both for having a quality player and for giving Tate more opportunity to work out of the slot.

Special teams were appalling (apart from Prater, who did an awesome job on the monster FG and as a stand-in punter). The disaster punt, the FG penalty, the world's shortest kick-off return and the muffed EP were all dreadful. Stafford's first pass as the NFL's highest paid player was also not great. Hopefully that's early season rust that will get knocked off, and the D are actually as good as they looked (and it's not just an outlier).

Monday's game should give us a better idea of this team - away, outdoors and on national TV all adds up to a likely Lions loss. Still, I enjoyed last night's game (loved Gollady's TD in particular), and I'm going to bathe in the warm glow of optimism for the next week :D

Stafford's first pass wasn't as disastrous as it looked. Tate was held up so was surprised it wasn't flagged, but then Tate gave up after the interception. He could easily have caught Bethea but he half assed it. That effort pissed me off. Stafford didn't give up on the play.

Gotta agree with all this. Tate got slammed completely off his route by the second Card player coming across the middle. I really like Tate, but he needs to better check his emotions. He's bi polar out there, the good plays have him jumping for joy, but one negative or neutral play and he's got his head down looking depressed until the next big play.
