 Sherman Lewis out
Listening to a bit of the Monday press conference, Mooch says that the Lion's offensive coordinator Sherman Lewis has retired. That's all I caught. Hummmm! Thoughts?

It seems that Christmas has come a little early (or late?) this year...

Greg Olson had taken over playcalling anyway so you could see this coming. It will only help the Lions in my opinion.

I wonder if the playcalling thing took its toll on Sherm. Its usually the OC that call plays, not the QB coach. Of course it does look good for Olson to be pormoted to OC...but who for the QB coach??? Maybe demote Mooch

Came a day late for the Bears win, a week late for the Rogers contract and a week and a half for this announcement.

Let's get Scott Linehan from the Vikings. He has installed a good vertical offense in Minnesota, has made them an elite offense in the league, and all indications point to the Vikings not re-newing his contract.
Thank god Sherman Lewis is gone! I was sick of the 4 yard throws on 3rd and 12.

For what it's worth Lewis has had a pretty respectable, if not impresive, coaching history. I know the offence hasn't been impressive under him, but it seems that coaches get most of the blame when things aren't working.

Two words....Norm Chow. The guy has been great at making adjustments, at the half and in-game. I just don't think they could even come close to getting him to even consider it.

Chow would be great, but going from offensive coordinator for the National Champs to offensive coordinator for the Lions might be a step down. If he leaves it will probably be for a head coaching gig, that's a big IF.

I'm thinking that they will either promote Olson to OC and move Higgins to QB coach and look for a new WR coach (Moore? C Sanders?) or promote Rathman to OC and look for a new RB coach.

 wco
hopefully, a new oc will mean a better offense. Maybe a moderation of the wco, but with more downfield plays. If Joey improves his accuracy and charles comes back, and roy runs more creative routs, then watch out. The greatest show on FieldTurf.

Mooch and Co have already stated that they are going to re-work the offense and tailor it more to the weapons that he has...I'm thinking that means more verticle
Quote: "We run the West Coast offense, and I will say the West Coast offense has won more Super Bowls than any offense in the history of mankind," Mariucci said. "However, we've got to determine is that exact offense the best for our current team and the way we're structured, the way our personnel fits. And then, how do you alter it? ... "The answer is yes, we're going to stay with the West Coast offense and, yes, we have to alter it, tailor it to our personnel. We have to do that."
