Super Bowl XL article....great quote by Tom Lewand
http://www.detroitlions.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=403782
Quote: As for the NFC champion...
"Obviously, we know how to get to our facility," says Lewand, alluding to the Lions being the 2005 NFC champions. (Note: In the 39-year history of the Super Bowl, the host NFL team has never played the game in its home facility. The Los Angeles Rams played at nearby Pasadena for Super Bowl XIV; and the San Francisco 49ers were a stone's throw from their home stadium for Super Bowl XIX in Palo Alto, Calif.)
"So, when we're practicing in our own building (Allen Park), we won't be complaining at all."

Getting a little ahead of ourselves. NFC north is reachable, but i doubt we could beat the eagles, unless Rondney Harrison rips T.O's leg off on Sunday. Its nice to dream though, the Lions playing in detroit.

2005 is the season the Lions have been targeting the past few years. But given how the Lions played after the first 6 games of the season they have a lot of work to do. The NFC will be wide open next year and a team like the Lions, if they can learn how to win the close games, could make a run at the playoffs. Super Bowl??? You gotta show us something first...

It would sure be nice to see. They are a team that are "right there", so to speak. It appears that they have the talent and now they have to produce. (It sounds odd to say that they "have the talent" after a 6-10 season, but you know what I mean). I spoke with a friend from Taylor the other day and he says the people around there seem to be holding Mooches feet to the fire and he may be starting to feel the heat. Well, it's time, no more excuses and no more free passes.

I think that's the motto for 2005.
No more excuses... it's time.

You guys had SOOO many close games, that 6-10 could probably be 9-7 if a few things had been different. So no, it's not that strange.
