 QB Shuffle 2005
With Garcia and Bledsoe both now on the market (officially on 2/22), here are some rumblings...
Brees - will stay with SD
Hassy - will stay with SEA
So let's take them out of the mix...
Bledsoe and Warner both seem to be a similar beast to me. They both are not mobile and need great OLs to be productive. Give them enough time and they can sitll pick you apart, don't give them enough time and they are turnovers waiting to happen. I don't think either would be a good fit in Detroit given the state of our OL.
Bledsoe - I think will end up in Dallas
Warner - Will end up somewhere like Arizona, Chicago, etc.
Garcia is likely headed to Detroit. Seems like the best FIT out of who looks to be available. Garcia is a system guy, a WCO guy. He was not a fit at all in Cleveland.
That stated, I'm wondering how Garcia being available impacts the Griese negotiations. From what I'm hearing, very little progress has been made here. I also know that Garcia likes Gruden and that he was hoping to sign with the Bucs last year. Obviously, if the Bucs have interest in Garcia, then Griese becomes a possiblity.
OK, just had to ramble on a bit...

Mike the karate man posed the Bledsoe vs Garcia but I think I am more interested in Griese vs Garcia...no not becuase they both begin with G and I love ganstas but becuase I think both would be quality pickups. Griese is younger than the other available guys like Bledsoe, Warner, etc...I also think he is a quality QB with a quick release and seemes very accurate. I think he is like a Gannon type that will start really coming into his own at this point in his career. When I heard the news about Garcia being releashed it was like the cartoons with the
It just makes sense IMO. If I had my choice though I would say Griese because he seems like much less of a stop gap and more like a guy who could have a future here for the next 6 years. But Garcia seems like a natural move for the Lions. Even if Garcia is looking for a for sure starting job you know Mooch is on the phone telling him what a bum Joey is.
Now if we could work out a deal trading Joey to Tampa Bay getting Griese and keeping McMahon I would satisfied.
By the way...what are the numbers Griese is looking for?

Here is a fantasy site that has news of the Griese deal and there are thoughts about how Garcia has affected the scenario. They are thinking Garcia goes to Tampa Bay

IMO
Garcia- Lions (best thing to happen for Garcia)
Bledsoe- Cowboys (be a good fit for the cowgirls)
Warner- Cards ( the only team he can start for.)
McMahon- Bears ( compete with Grossman)
Griese- ????( no clue were he could end up)

I'd take Griese over Garcia any day, but that could just be my Big Blue love taking over.

I think we all agree on one thing, We need to get a FA qb. I just hope who ever it is the guy can get Joey to play at a higher level or they can lead us to the playoffs

Millen called Johnnie Morton a (homosexual). There's no way he'll let Jeff "It's not my first time, but please be gentle" Gaycia sign on. I'll bet my bile duct they sign someone only a few, if any one, has heard of.
Last year, I remember all of the FA QB talk, and I don't recall anyone saying "What about Mirer?". Don't get your hopes up, regardless of what Boomer, Mort, or anyboday says.

My hope is that the talks in Tampa break down and Griese signs with the Lions, Garcia can go to the bucks or wheraver it dont matter just let Griese come here. Otherwise I dont see any of them being an upgrade over Harrington.

I was reading that earlier, his rankings (age):
1. Griese (29)
2. Bledsoe (33)
3. Garcia (35)
4. Holcomb (31)
5. Warner (33)
6. B. Johnson (36)
7. Gannon (39)
8. Fielder (33)
9. Stewart (32)
10. Testaverde (41)
Griese had the best year of any QB available and is the only one under 30 - humm, wonder why he was ranked #1.

Plus one can make some comparisons for his style of play and um...Tom Brady which they did.

QB shuffle let's play...
BLEDSOE to Dallas seems like a no brainer.
GARCIA for some reason I think he's going to Tampa not Detroit.
WARNER heard Chicago is interested, makes sense since Lovie Smith is coach.
HOLCOMB sounds like the Browns want to re-sign him.
Stewart, Johnson, Gannon and Testaverde let's not even go there
Which leaves Griese or Fielder coming to Detroit.
