Associated Press
ALLEN PARK, Mich. - The Detroit Lions cut safety Brian Walker Tuesday and re-signed reserve guard Tyrone Hopson.
Walker, a nine-year veteran, missed all of last season with a left knee injury after starting the previous two years at free safety for the Lions. He has started 58 of 97 games and has 15 career interceptions for Detroit, Miami, Seattle, and Washington.
Hopson played in 11 games for the Lions last season. He was drafted by San Francisco in the fifth round in 1999. Terms of his deal were not disclosed.
The Lions also released receiver Tim Van Zant, who was signed to their practice squad on Nov. 3.
