No trade yet. Darius was not happy being franchised for the 3rd straight year. He marched in Jags offices and told them he wanted to be traded to Detroit. The Jags and Lions have talked, but Millen doesn't want to pony up what the Jags are asking in return.
Kennoy Kennedy of the Broncos is in town this weekend. If they sign him, they won't go after Darius. If he winds up signing with another team - talks will continue.

I read on a message board that the Lions have traded their 3rd rounder and swapped 2nd rounders with Jacksonville for Darius. I haven't seen anything official yet. I can't imagine that the Lions would make that trade with Kenoy Kennedy set to visit tomorrow.

I haven't seen antthing on this trade yet but I don,t think it would be a bad move. They could still sign Kennedy and put him back there with Darius. With that pairing and keeping the #10 pick they could still trade down to get the player they are looking for and recover a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Draft a TE and a guard. I still think they should be looking at Troy Brown as a 3rd reciever. He is the kind of team player the Lions need.

Unless Jags and DD made the Lions an offer they can't refuse.
So yeah, the answer is no... for now.

Kennedy isn't an ideal free safety, neither is Darius. They won't sign both.

If you look up ideal free safety in the dictionary you would see a picture of Brian Dawkins. He's about as close as you'll come to an ideal free safety in the NFL right now. Big hitter, good coverage skills, solid tackler.

I haven't heard of it yet, but I have heard a vicious rumor that Detroit may try to sign Kennedy and still make a trade for Darius. Anyone else heard it?

Personally, I think that would be SWEET!!!! I just have a feeling that both back there, along with Bly and Bryant...we would have one of the BEST secondaries in the NFL

One would have to think that we would be an extranordinary defence...with our dline and dbacks and potential for our super fast linebackers...maybe that is what is taking the time for pulling the trigger on FA? I would rather have them get DD and KK than Garcia, Warner, Wahle, or Rivera...but that's just me.
