Who is the best player available? If we could get Rolle, would we take him?

Rolle? doubtful.
Johnson? won't be there.
I still expect the Lions to draft the best offensive (Barron) or best defensive lineman (Cody, James, Merriman) available on draft day at number 10.

Top 10 NFL Draft Prospects
1. Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan
2. Cedric Benson, RB, Texas
3. Aaron Rodgers, QB, California*
4. Ronnie Brown, RB, Auburn
5. Alex Smith, QB, Utah*
6. Carnell Williams, RB, Auburn
7. Derrick Johnson, OLB, Texas
8. Mike Williams, WR, USC*
9. Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami (FL)
10. Adam Jones, CB, West Virginia*
Only person on that list that I think we could even consider taking is Johnson...
11-15
11. Alex Barron, OT, Florida State
12. Shawne Merriman, DE, Maryland*
13. Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina*
14. Marcus Spears, DE, LSU
15. Erasmus James, DE, Wisconsin
Barron, Merriman, Spears, James, all them are good choices. I really don't see a certain player we should take. Once we find out what to do at the RT position, whether it be draft Barron, re-sign McDougle, sign a veteran FA, let Butler play... then we will be able to narrow down our choices.
Look for an updated top 50 prospects soon.

I would rather pick up a O-lineman per FA, I think it takes a lineman a year or two to really perform at NFL skill level, a rookie would be too green. I would like to see a defensive pickup, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. We can always use depth on Defense, pick a De, or a CB (since we had so many injuries last year) may be good. Best available is a good option to have.

I'm really not seeing the huge need for a #1 pick at DE. We will probably get to pick whomever we want but there is no consensus top player at DE. We could probably get an equivalent player somewhere in round 2. Redding is developing into a fine DE capable of playing all 3 downs. Hall is productive. Kalimba Edwards is still promising, he did not have an offseason last year but a little more strength will go a long way.
The defense last year was not such a huge weakness. They stopped quality rushers all season and did well getting to the passer without a blitz. They gave up some big plays in the passing game but mostly due to coverage and poor tackling after the catch. 3 and outs by the offense really killed this team. Kennedy is a big upgrade, he can hit receivers over the middle with authority and supports the run game well too. Healthy corners would help. But the O needs to keep the D off the field. O-line has some holes right now.

Just ask the Colts
The best offense wont win you anything
We really need an O-lineman I just hope we sign a decent FA
Many people think our defensive line is set, I disagree
Big Daddy really started to fade last season, his production dropped the closer it got to the end of the season. I think we need someone to push or replace him and give Rogers an extra push from the inside. It seems most of the defensive lineman at number 10 are mostly outside pass rushers however.

Spears is best set for a 3-4 defense. I imagine SD will take him at #12. He's gonna be a force in the pros at around 320 and runs quite fast for a big man. He's best over the nose but I would definately take him for our 4-3 scheme because he's a disrupter.

My bad, Spears only tops out at 307, which is still a beast. Oh, and Watson isn't in this year's draft, he'll be in next years.
