Report: Cardinals hire Donnie Henderson
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 22, 2010 1:17 PM ET
Once considered a rising coaching star, Donnie Henderson spent 2009 as a volunteer for the UFL franchise in California.
Brad Biggs of the National Football Post reports that Henderson is getting back into the NFL as the next defensive backs coach of the Cardinals, replacing Teryl Austin.
Henderson was a secondary coach for the Ravens from 2000-2003, then went on to rocky defensive coordinator gigs with the Jets and Lions. The Cardinals sent three defensive backs to the Pro Bowl in 2009, but one of them looks likely to be released soon.

Yeah, getting fired from the lions can have that kind of effect on your career.

It's amazing how the NFL coaching ranks are basically a carousel. These guys get more chances then the players do, even with the results of a Donny Henderson or a Rod Marinelli. It is interesting to note that the guys that Matt Millen brought in have not ascended to the ranks of any other teams then the position they held in Detroit. Obviously they were overmatched. Morninweg apparently has a shot if Reid has a heart attack or retires. Hell, Joe Cullen has a job...
