 Bad day for Michael Irvin
Accused of rape and lost his ESPN radio show in Dallas today...
Quote: Former NFL star Michael Irvin accused of sexual assault February 5, 2010 | 11:00 am
A woman has filed a lawsuit against Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin, claiming he sexually assaulted her at a Florida hotel.
The lawsuit, which was filed Thursday, seeks unspecified damages from the NFL Network commentator for allegedly assaulting her at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., on July 4 or 5, 2007.
A Seminole tribe spokesman told the Associated Press that the incident was reported to tribal police on July 20, 2007, but the woman later signed a waiver of prosecution.
In the lawsuit, the woman alleges that Irvin got her drunk before taking her back to her room and, along with another unidentified man, insisted on sexual favors. The woman says Irvin then raped her.
Irvin's attorney, Larry Friedman, said the lawsuit was nothing more than a "civil extortion" attempt. Friedman says that an attorney for the woman contacted him before Irvin's appearance last year on "Dancing With the Stars" and said Irvin would have to pay the woman $1 million or face a lawsuit.
"Nothing happened. There was no encounter between this Jane Doe and Michael Irvin," Friedman said. "The entire story is false, it's bogus, it's made up."
In 1996, another woman accused Irvin of sexual assault but recanted after her story was discovered to be false.] http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... ece66.htmlDallas News wrote: Michael Irvin loses ESPN Radio show in Dallas
11:26 AM CST on Friday, February 5, 2010 By BARRY HORN / The Dallas Morning News Michael Irvin has done his last radio show for ESPN-FM 103.3 in Dallas.
"The show was not performing and we had previously determined to end the show," ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz told me.
Krulewitz said news of a lawsuit filed in Fort Lauderdale alleging a rape in 2007 simply expedited the situation.
Irvin's also had was falling ratings.
Ben & Skin start today.
Irvin's other employer, NFL Network, told me earlier this morning they had not decided if Irvin would work any more Super Bowl studios.
Here's how the story developed.

The thing that makes me skittish on this story is because the woman signed a waiver of prosecution, and to me that makes her case seem very thin. I don't want him in jail, I just want his money. I think his attorney said it best when he called it a case of "Civil Extortion".
As for the radio show, I'm not surprised, he liked to talk, but its usually not all that intelligent. Whatever.

I hate to dismiss someone's accusations... but if you go STRAIGHT for the money after 2-3 years... I'm inclined to doubt.
