Post Peppers to visit with Bears
Looks like the Bears are the first to get the Peppers visit. The report also says that they are looking at Chester Taylor.

It doesn't look like Peppers is getting out of Chicago without a signed contract. Oh well. I just hope that he loses his motivation once he gets paid. He seems like the type of player that would do that.

Bears win Peppers sweepstakes, agree to deal with RB Taylor
NFL.com Wire Reports

Five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers has agreed to a six-year, $79.8 million deal with the Chicago Bears, a league source told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi on Friday.

The contract guarantees Peppers $40 million in the first three years. Agent Carl Carey didn't return messages from The Associated Press, and the Bears declined comment before a 6 p.m. ET news conference.

The Bears also landed running back Chester Taylor from NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings. NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported that Taylor agreed to a four-year contract worth $12.5 million with $7 million guaranteed, according to a league source.

Taylor, who backed up All-Pro Adrian Peterson in Minnesota, will challenge Matt Forte for time in the Bears' backfield after Chicago's hallmark power running game slipped last season.

It's official, but I think $79.8M is a bit much.

A bit much? A bit ridiculous! We're talking franchise qb (stafford) type money for a 30 year old DE who's 1 ankle or knee twist away from mediocrity. Don't get me wrong, peppers is a stud, but he's had a good string of luck with not getting hurt. I simply don't see him staying healthy in Chicago and producing as well in sub freezing snowy weather. Not worth franchise qb money.

Yeah that is a bit much when you need so many other pieces, but with the Bears not having a first round pick this year, it's kind like a draft party for them. Hopefully it sets their franchise back for a decade.

With $42M guaranteed.

That's a bigger deal than Stafford got.

$91.5M with $42M guaranteed! Is Bernie Madoff his agent or something because the Bears just got ripped off! That's beyond ridiculous, but I guess that could be a good thing for the Lions.
