 Javon Walkers outrageous contract proposal
Packers: Walker wants big money
The News
Holdout wide receiver Javon Walker not only wants the Packers to renegotiate his existing contract, he wants to be paid like one of the league's top wideouts. The Wisconsin State Journal reports that Walker's agent submitted a contract proposal that would be worth more than the eight-year, $75 million deal the Vikings gave Randy Moss in 2001. Packers' officials have yet to respond to Walker's request.
Our View
The thing to remember is that this is Walker's first proposal, which means it's probably nothing more than a starting point for negotiations. That said, the salary cap strapped Packers can't be happy with this figure even as a starting point. Javon went on record with his hope to remain in Green Bay, but he probably has to come way down in his salary demands if he sincerely wants to continue playing for the Packers.
WOW. The guy has a breakout/fluke year, call it what you will, and he thinks he deserves more money than Moss??? No way Walker deserves anywhere close to $9M a season (SB included). Granted, it's his first proposal, but he thinks he's worth that much?!?

Conversion,
This is a good post.
I think Walker has been hit in the head with the ball to many times. Moss may be an rectum but there's no denying he's an incredible receiver. Walker in not that caliber of player. Period.

I wouldn't even put Javon Walker in my top ten of receivers in the NFL. He is obviously an rectum who has been taking lessons by watching Moss and Owens approach to self advertising.
Who represents him? It's gotta be the Postons or Rosenhaus. Javon better get it in his head that without Favre he wouldn't have had nearly the year he did. On a team with an average QB, he's just an average receiver.

Walker is not going to get this deal. Did you know aginst NFC north teams last year he only had a total of 25 catches. That was in 7 games that the pack played North teams, one was a playoff game. That is only 3.5 catches a game aginst division oppents. He needs to get back and try to have another big year, Befor he loses Farve.

Walker is a very talented receiver and he helped me win my fantasy league last season, but I agree with all of you when I say HE IS NOT AS GOOD A RECEIVER AS MOSS THUS HE DOES NOT DESERVE A SIMILAR CONTRACT. Thats an incredibly greedy way to start contract negotiations, I know he doesnt expect that much but I dont think his hopes are that far short of his first proposal.
