Post SF releases OT Gragg
The 49ers released offensive tackle Scott Gragg on Thursday. The Mercury News reports that the long-anticipated move saved the team roughly $3 million in salary cap space. "Scott has always been a first-class act, and hopefully he gets a shot with somebody," Niners' head coach Mike Nolan said of Gragg, who spent five seasons in San Francisco.

Wonder if he has his tickets already to visit Mooch?

Yeah,

I've always liked him (I'm a 9er fan as well as a Lion fan). He's always been solid-above average IMO.

The bad news is he really strugled last year and is almost definatly in the decline of his career. But to be fair, if the rest of SF's line hadn't been so god awful Gragg could very well have been a solid player last season. I think he'd add excellent depth to Detroits Oline and may still be capable of being a solid starter for a while longer. He's not worth anything near the $3 mil he was going to cost the 9ers though.

I'm still a little worried about Detroits Oline this season. If he doesn't demand a huge contract (I can't see how he would at this point) I'd like to see him playing for the Lions.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Detroit Lions are one of about six or seven teams to show an interest in free agent OT Scott Gragg (49ers). The Lions have not scheduled a visit with Gragg as of now.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports six or seven teams have shown an interest in free agent OT Scott Gragg (49ers). All the teams that have contacted him are either tight against the salary cap or want to see how a young tackle practices during organized team workouts before making a final decision on Gragg.

So if we're going to make a move - Just Do It!!
