BAD KARMA? Martz causes Smoker to switch jersey number
Rams' head coach Mike Martz appears to have a phobia of certain jersey numbers. The notoriously strange head coach forced backup quarterback and former Spartan great Jeff Smoker to abandon his No. 9 jersey in favor of No. 15 because he believes certain numbers carry bad karma. The second-year signal caller disputed rumors that he would be released if he didn't agree to switch numbers. "No, he didn't say that," Smoker told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "But I kind of took the hint and switched the number."
Uh oh, guess Dan Orlovsky (#9) is going to fall into the same category as every other Lions QB since the 1950's. Then again, maybe certain positions on teams just suffer bad karma meaning Joey, Jeff and Dan don't stand a chance.
