Post Favre Better Stay Healthy
His latest heir apparent has been stinking up the tundra per PFT Rumor Mill:

"It looks like all of those teams that passed on QB Aaron Rodgers knew what they were doing; "Something is causing him to have his ball sail," Packers offensive coordinator Tom Rossley said. "He's high on all of his throws. He's not really cutting loose, and he's not following through and finishing on the ball."

These is a link to the MJS, but that requires registration so I did not include it.

Well there is always Nall!

Gosh, didn't I warn Green Bay about Tedford QB's?

Merril Hoge was dead on about Rodgers, when he was speaking about him.

Randy Mueller said that he was a mid-late first rounder. He was right. This was a guy who was projected as the #1 overall pick a few months before the draft.

I mean, after watching Joey Harrington for 3 years, maybe they would have been turned off of Tedford QBs. They are all busts.

They arent busts yet!... I ll wait and see on Harrington and Carr before I say its just the "Tedfor" qb's... I think they both have good seasons this year and land right around where vegas puts em... .500 ( actually vegas has Detroit ahead of both Arizona and Houston_)

Well I'm glad one of the Lionbacker staff members got it right when projecting AR to fall all the way to GB in his final mock. Humm, who was that again...

Okay Mr. Derrick Johnson is going 3rd overall.

Were only off by 12 picks there :P

BTW, could you enlighten me as to who won that Mock Draft Contest?

Damn Browns... I'm not sure who won, I think we were all to disgusted by the end of the first round to figure it out. Wasn't much to brag about anyway. But your Top 100 sure was sweeeeet!

The same tutor

Carr and Harrington have a lot in common. They're West Coast natives. Carr grew up in Bakersfield, Calif., Harrington in Portland, Ore. Harrington is 6-4, 220. Carr is 6-3, 220. Harrington is 9-20 as a starter, including Sunday's victory at Chicago. Carr is 7-21, including Sunday's loss to San Diego.
Both were coached in college by Jeff Tedford, the quarterback guru who has revitalized the University of California. Tedford was Carr's quarterbacks coach for two years at Fresno State before he moved to Oregon, where he coached Harrington.

"He is, without a doubt, one of the biggest reasons I'm where I am today," Harrington said about Tedford. "He's an incredible coach. He's done a great job, not only with David and I but also with quarterbacks like Trent Dilfer, A.J. Feeley and Kyle Boller.

"You look at his track record, and the number of quarterbacks he's produced is uncanny."

A big difference

One thing Carr and Harrington don't have in common is sacks. In three seasons, Harrington has been sacked 18 times. Carr was sacked 19 times during one three-game stretch his rookie season in which he was sacked an NFL-record 76 times.
"I can't imagine that," Harrington said, shaking his head in awe at Carr being able to survive his rookie season. "I don't know how he did it. I can't imagine taking that kind of beating, especially your rookie year when you're trying to build confidence.

"You've got to give him credit. He's a tough son of a gun to hang in through that."

The Lions led the NFL in fewest sacks allowed the last two seasons. One knock against Harrington is that he sometimes gets rid of the ball too quickly.

"I think if you added up every sack of my career, it wouldn't add up to that (76)," Harrington said. "And I'm talking about high school and college, as well as the NFL.

"I've been blessed with a terrific offensive line. They do a great job of picking up blitzes. Not only the offensive line but our running backs are very well-coached. I feel they're more prepared than any running backs I've seen to pass protect and pick up things on the fly. They adjust very well to blitzes they haven't seen."

Harrington has benefited from the Lions hiring Steve Mariucci as their coach last season. Mariucci is an offensive-oriented coach who is patient with quarterbacks.

When asked about Harrington being sacked so few times, Mariucci said, "Some of it's him. There's a fine line between having a clock in your head and knowing when the ball should be out versus staying in the pocket, poised and waiting for things to develop, waiting for receivers to run into the next window and those sorts of things.

"It's not just the quarterback, of course. We've been pretty lucky. I'd like to think we've done a pretty good job protecting him.

"Joey's in a similar situation to Carr. They're in their third years, playing on developing teams and getting better and better.

"I've been encouraged with Joey's maturity, and his leadership qualities are starting to show. His understanding of the direction we're going and what defenses are trying to do are expanding."

No, Carr wasn't under Tedford.

Tedford was at Fresno State when Carr was a freshman, where Carr only threw 11 passes. He really wasn't coached by Tedford at all.

Tedford left Fresno State after the 1997 season,

Carr didn't start having a decent season until 2001, four years after Tedford had packed his bags.

Everything I've read, and there have been quite a few articles on it, was that Tedford coached Carr for a couple years, and then Harrington for a couple years... Everyone tends to associate Carr with Tedford, Google it once..

I dont know how many games/passes he was there for but as yoda would say

coach him, he did

But that's my point. No one actually looks into how much exactly Tedford helped Carr, which he didn't at all. It's like saying that Marty Mornenweig was responsible for Harrington's success (although not a good example).

Tedford was there for ONE YEAR. Carr's freshman season, where he threw 11 passes. Wow. That's having an impact on a player.

Carr wasn't even the starting quarterback until 2000, a good 4 years after Tedford had left Fresno State. He wasn't a top prospect until 2001, 5 years after Tedford left.

People associating Carr with Tedford are just plain wrong. He had no impact on his NFL career.

I seen that after my post I had to research that a little bit, and you are correct he wasnt with Carr for long... BUT TECHNICALLY he did coach him.. so TECHNICALLY he is a Tedford coached QB... but I wouldnt say Tedford made him who he is today, so were just left with the technicalities... fart.gif

You're fine... I'm just giving you a hard time.

As for back years of Vegas predictions; I'm not sure where to find that. I'm sure there's some historians and / or gamblers that could dig that up. Sufice it to say the Vegas odds makers are pretty accurate tho.

Amazingly acurate at times.
