Post Vikings' Williams Guarantees Super Bowl
Quote:
Vikings | Super Bowl Here We Come: P. Williams
Sun, 10 Jul 2005 06:14:11 -0700

Paul J. Letlow, of the News Star, reports Minnesota Vikings DT Pat Williams is very confident of the team's chances in 2005. "Oh, we're going to the Super Bowl," Williams said. "Mark that down. Tell everybody. 'We're going to the Super Bowl.' We'll be in Detroit." The team signed him to clog the middle along with All-Pro DT Kevin Williams. Williams was hurt when the Buffalo Bills did not re-sign him. "It was hard when they decided not to re-sign me," Williams said. "They hurt me some. But management there now isn't good." Williams likes the leadership in Minnesota saying the major free agent acquisitions by the Vikings are all leaders. Williams said he signed with Minnesota for a chance to get "the ring."

It just seems to me that saying this is the kind of thing that helps prevent you from going. It's fine to believe it; but keep it to yourself and your teammates and out of the media.

I think the Vikinks are good but I don't see them going to the super bowl. To get there they have to get past the Eagles not to mention the fact that the Lions have something to say about it.

Does anybody else think that it's funny that a former Buffalo Bill is a guaranteeing a Super Bowl appearance?

I wouldn't be  if they went. But their D has to gel quickly, they need to establish the run, and they need Troy W. to emerge for it to happen.

The Eagles have none of these issues which is why the Vikings are not going which is why Williams' comment is wacked.

I bet he'd be saying the same thing if he was on the Eagles, Pats, Steelers, Ravens, Colts, etc.

I had that written down after the Ravens, but I decided to avoid that whole ordeal and just throw in the Colts. Lol!

Training camp hasn't even started. These comments hold absolutely no weight at this time of year.

Heck, I'm a homer. I say WE are going to the SuperBowl too! laughing7.gif

Ha, ha. I love it. This is just the pressure they do not need. This will be a fun media circus by the second half. They will keep reminding Pat about his prediction. "So, you are 5-6, what do you think. . ." "I stand firm blah, blah."

Why is that now mediocre players make guarantees> The only thing Pat controls himself. If he ever played like a pro bowler that would still not be enough to get Tice over the NFC championship hump.

Yorick, you're right on!

This stuff just goes to show that Tice has NO CONTROL over this team.

You would have thought that Moss being gone this crap would end. But the players have learned that Tice doesn't care or doesn't know what to do about it.

You guys just can't "move on" from the Cardinals discussion?

If I wanted to discuss the Cardinals, i'd go to www.arizonasportsfans.com

I'm just getting sick of it. I made a prediction, I stated facts, and gave reasons. Lions fans on here make incredibly unrealsitic predictions, but for weeks they aren't talked about. Just stop.

I cannot follow your train of thought. Where did the Cardinals come into our discussion of the Vikings?
