Worst Franchises in Sports: Lions #2
http://www.dailyherald.com/search/main_story.asp?intid=38366148
According to 5-year winning percentages:
1. Chicago Bulls
2. Detroit Lions
3. Arizona Cardinals
4. Golden State Warriors
5. Houston Texans
6. Los Angeles Clippers
7. Atlanta Thrashers
8. Cleveland Cavaliers
Kind of makes you think, we have been as bad as the Cardinals and Bulls the past few years. OUCH!

I have never understood why people have called the Bengals one of the worse organizations in the league, ragged on the Cards and spoke poorly of other teams without mentioning the Lions. We are talking about a team that has won a grand total of 1 playoff game since the merger of the NFL/AFL. Talk about poor, at least the Bengals have played in the Superbowl.

probably because the lions were at least competitive in the 90's while the bengals and cardinals were horrible for most of the decade.

The Lions have had Barry Sanders. Who have the Cardinals had that is even near that status? No one. The Bengals have had some good players. Munoz was one of the best tackles in the game. Esiason was a good quarterback as well. But neither are in the Barry Sanders area. That's why most people respect the Lions, because we had Barry.

No matter which players were where, if you are talking about a successful franchise, you are talking wins, and the Lions haven't had many of those. Spiderman brings a good point though. The Lions had playoff teams in the 90's, but never advanced (with the exception of 91). Having a Hall of Famer doesn't necessarily garner respect for the team, just the Hall of Famer.

What's even worse is that an expansion team is doing better than us

right on Wags...it has been painful watching Jacksonville and Carolina have success that we have never experienced...how long have they been around?

HAHA, LMFAO!
We can't! It's the truth! We couldn't even get the #1 overall pick when we went 2-14, we were 3rd! Then we went 3-13 and we were 2nd! Gosh we suck!

True, but it leads one to believe that because you guys had a player the caliber of barry you should have atleast won TWO playoff games in that ten year span. I think it was more of a lack of respect for the lions because you had such a great player and was unable to do anything with him.

Good point...BUT our franchise at least got that player and some good seasons with him. Arizona has had probably more opportunity to acquire a player of high caliber and couldn't even do it.
