Coles to be released by Skins
Redskins' officials have verbally agreed to release wide receiver Laveranues Coles, according to the Washington Post. Per the agreement, Coles will return part of his $13 million signing bonus, which will help the Redskins' salary cap situation. The move could take place as early as Tuesday, which is the first day that teams are allowed to release players. Laveranues led the team with 90 receptions for 950 yards last year, but he only found the end zone once.
It is my understanding that the Skins have also given Rod Gardner permission to seek a trade, meaning the team might be unloading both starting wide receivers from last season.
The Skins hold the No. 9 pick in April's draft and probably have their eye on USC wideout Mike Williams. They could also become players in the free agent market, which is expected to include Muhsin Muhammad, Derrick Mason, Plaxico Burress, and Jerry Porter.

He would cost too much, and there isn't any room for him in Detroit. He's complaining about the offense and wants out after catching 90 balls last season, a career high.

According to ESPN, the skins might try to trade Coles rather than release him.
