 Scenario.
Given the lack of RP on the Tigers:
Would you want the Tigers to sign Jeff Weaver, ( WITH PROTECTIONS BUILT INTO HIS CONTRACT ), to be a setup man. Heck Weaver has good enough stuff to be a closer and the mentality to be a closer. So, if he pitches better than Jones the two could swap spots.
Protections that would be built into his contract would be some significant money for not having even 1 negative incident in the clubhouse, ( Off field problems haven't been a problem with Weaver).
The big knock on Weaver is his personality.
Weaver is available. When the Tigers traded him to the Yankees, Weaver was one of the 10 most dominating pitchers in Baseball. The Yankees broke him. Maybe the Tigers can fix him.
Once the Tigers get Rodney and Zumaya back, Weaver could be used in Long Relief with the occasional spot start.
_________________ Fisher or Joekel or Lane Johnson for #5 overall. I have settled on Johnson as my preference. The only thing Joekel and Fisher have over him is experience at LT. 2 years from now, Lane Johnson will be known as the best LT of this draft!

No!!!!! Weaver has major issues with his personality and with his pitching abillity thats why he cant stay on a team he will end up with some pitching poor organization like baltimore or pittsburgh at some point.

Nope. The Tigers seem to have a good clubhouse now, and Weaver could put that in jeopardy, yet again. I'd pass.

I'd pass on Weaver, I liked him when he was our ace, but I don't think his attitude would mesh with Leyland.
