Tigers are now in control of the 2nd wild card. But, it was costly. Nick Castellanos was lost for at least 2 weeks with a non displaced fracture of the 5th Metacarpal when he got drilled by a pitch in the 5th inning.

2 weeks - more like 4

Zimmerman is back on the DL again too, as is Pelfrey. Norris will be a step up from pelfrey and zimm has been garbage for a couple months now.

How about Sanchez yesterday? Wow.

I did say AT LEAST 2 weeks.

I wouldn't say that Zimmerman has been garbage. But, his abilities have suffered with this neck issue he is going through.

Hopefully, Norris is back to last years form and we will have at least 3 solid Starters.

And yes, Sanchez is pitching like he did the year we traded for him over his last 3 starts. I need to see a couple more of those before I just go and jump on that bandwagon though. After how bad he was before the Tigers couldn't watch anymore of it and demoted him to blowout duty in the bull pen.

Does anybody think the Tigers have the stuff to corral Puieg(sp?).He has all the gear to be our CF. Miggy and V-Mart could really turn this kid around and I think the Dodgers might just about throw him at us. Gibby could help as well.

wouldnt be a bad offseason project if the dodgers eat some money off that contract in the process

20 games to go with two series against cleveland. tigers probably need 13 wins for the wild card and probably can only lose to cleveland once for a chance at the division. anyone think they can do it?

I think they have a slightly better than a 50/50 chance at it. It seems like the Blue Jays, Orioles and the Red Sox play each other a lot the last 3 weeks. That bodes well for the Tigers. The Tigers have 9 games to play against the Twins and Braves, the two worst teams in the league. I still think it only a 60/40 chance though. They just haven't been able to put everything together at the same time this season. No reason to think they'll start now.

Well the last few games have been awful. 2 losses to the twins where they barely bothered to show up and then they just got hammered 11-4 by the damn Indians. Fulmer has hit a wall lately, Zimmerman and pelfrey are still horrible. Sanchez looks like Cy young and then completely implodes for a half dozen runs... It's awful.

And out comes the lack of offense. The Indians just set a record for the most shutout innings pitched by a BP. FML.

Exciting finish down the stretch for the Tigers. Upton somehow has gotten to 30 HRs despite a season when he mostly was just striking out and having totally useless at bats - anyway he s on a major tear lately. Daniel Norris came up big throwing into the 7th which was huge bc Jordan Zimmerman is taking the hill again after looking awful 3 weeks ago. Seems like a risky move by the Tigers but the pen (and team in general) has been majorly bailed out by a rain shortened 5 inning win, the rainout vs Cleveland the next day and then Norris win pitching deep in the game. They should have plenty of help ready in case Zimmerman falters. Fortunately the Braves are pitching a kid who s really struggled and tends to get in trouble early. If they get through this one, the Tigers have Verlander and Fulmer starting the final two with the season on the line. Cleveland really would have nothing to play for in the season finale except maybe trying to keep the Tigers out but I doubt they would roll out one of there remaining healthy starters and probably dont want to tax there pen either.

not sure why it seems the tigers cant tee off on guys that the rest of the league has had no problems destroying. verlander has to hold serve and need toronto or baltimore to lose to extend the season to 162

They struggle against junk ballers - soft tossers.

Don't see it happening. Boston and Ny have nothing to play for. O's are already up and Toronto will probably win.

JV has already given up a run and doesn't look very sharp. Tehran is mowing hitters down. Until next year and a horribly boring offseason to boot. Tigers won't go after anything this year with the contracts they've got. They could always trade JD though.

The Tigers might actually be dismantled this offseason. They might pull a Miami Marlins and have a fire sale.
