And here we have Pres Bush wanting to renew the Patriot Act as a whole......
I agree that the Patriot Act is very good, but I think it is too broad. We are far enough from the terror attacks that we can start to scale down some of the language in the Patriot Act. We do need to start looking at the civil liberties issue. I have never been a fan of the ACLU, but I personally don't like the idea of the Govt doing on search on me just for the hell of it. I think that some sort of terrorist tie needs to be made prior to the search, at the very least anyway.

Its interesting, USA Today did a poll about what people thought of the Patriot act. Most people didn't like it, thought it infringed on their civil liberties. Then they were asked about specific parts of the Patriot Act, and most of them didn't have a problem with them. I hated the Patriot Act because I was told it was against our civil liberties. When I saw the specfic provisions, I didn't think it was too bad. Went too far in some cases, but mostly, I didn't think due process was hurt too much.
As for Bush, what an idiot. When he got re-elected, I didn't think he was that bad of a pres, but he has been losing respect from me daily. Won't compromise on a thing. Go McCain
