I think you're thinking of Donte' Curry. I think it was him who got nailed in Atlanta within the last year.

I thought for sure it was a TE or oliner.

Police: Gun found in Doss' car

Associated Press Via ESPN.com

AKRON, Ohio -- Indianapolis Colts safety Mike Doss was arrested Sunday on gun charges.

Police heard five or six shots coming from outside a restaurant around 2:20 a.m., and found shell casings in the area and a gun in Doss' vehicle, according to a statement issued by the Akron Police Department.

The 24-year-old Doss was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a firearm within city limits, inducing panic and obstructing official business. He posted bond and was released pending a court appearance.

Colts coach Tony Dungy said he'll impose a swift and severe punishment on Doss.

Dungy said he spoke with Doss, who explained what happened. Dungy said Doss violated team rules and would be punished when Dungy learns exactly what happened.

Doss is a third-year pro who won a national championship at Ohio State in 2002.

OK... Here's my question...

How many people reading this have ever been driving around with a loaded handgun let alone went to a restaurant and fired 5 or 6 shots into the air?

Of course, hasn't everybody.

I love the rush of putting peoples lives in danger. It makes me feel like I have a lot of testosterone.

Seahawks:? Robinson charged with DUI

Seahawks wideout Koren Robinson is in trouble with the law again. The Tacoma News-Tribune is reporting that he has been charged with DUI and reckless driving following a May 6 incident. He reportedly pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the misdemeanor criminal charges filed in Kirkland (Wa.) Municipal Court and is due back on July 18. Robinson missed four games last season for violating the league's substance abuse policy and was held out of another by head coach Mike Holmgren for missing a Friday practice.

Miami-Dade County police were looking Friday for Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, who they describe as a "person of interest'' in an assault case.

"We need to speak to him, we don't know if he's a victim, witness or suspect,'' said police spokesman Mary Walters.

Wow. Remind me never to ask a Miami-Dade cop for help. I heard in Carl Hiassan's column that they put a guy away for a crime that was committed while he was in prison.

Taylor turns out to be the suspect. He fired several shots into a car that was stolen. luckily for him he is a better football player than he is a gunman, nobody was hurt, but he is facing several felony charges.

Updating an ongoing storyline, the Associated Press reports Miami-Dade County police said Washington Redskins S Sean Taylor pointed a gun at someone Wednesday, June 1 during a dispute over two all terrain vehicles he claims the victims had stolen. Taylor, who was with others, left the scene but returned about 10 minutes later and assaulted one victim with his fists. Another man, Charles Elwood Caughman, threatened and chased another victim with a baseball bat, police said. Caughman was arrested later that day and charged with aggravated assault, police said. Police said the Redskins organization cooperated with them during the investigation. As previously noted, Taylor has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and simple battery. He was accompanied by his attorney, Fred Moldovan, when he turned himself in Saturday, June 4.

"...left the scene but returned about 10 minutes later and assaulted one victim with his fists." This is the part that always gets you in court. It means you thought about it and went back for more.

If this turns out to be true he could be in a lot of trouble.

CARMEL, Ind. -- Indianapolis Colts cornerback Nick Harper was arrested Saturday for allegedly hitting his wife.

Deputies were called to the couple's home north of Indianapolis in the morning, Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Carter said. Harper's wife, Danielle, was treated for an eye injury but wasn't taken to a hospital, Carter said.

Harper, 30, was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and was being held Saturday at the Hamilton County Jail in Noblesville on $2,500 bond. Because of the nature of the charges, he cannot bond out of jail until after his initial court appearance Monday.

"He'll be in jail all weekend," Carter said.

Colts spokesman Craig Kelly said only, "We are aware of the matter."

Harper, who has started 27 games the last two seasons, re-signed with the Colts in April. He had three interceptions last season and a team-high four in 2003.

He became the second Colts player arrested within a week. Safety Mike Doss was arrested Sunday in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, on gun charges.

It's been a busy week for the Colts. I'll bet Tony Dungy is pissed. He does NOT put up with this kind of stuff.

The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins S Sean Taylor was released on $16,500 bond after he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm. The Miami-Dade County clerk's office will set an arraignment date later. He turned himself in Saturday, June 4 and he was released later that evening.

The Washington Post reports an arraignment for Washington Redskins S Sean Taylor has been scheduled for the morning of June 24 in Miami. According to a police report, Taylor and a co-defendant, Charles Elwood Caughman, 19, of Baltimore, drove up to a residence in a blue 2005 GMC Yukon Denali truck and Taylor pointed a gun at two individuals he believed had stolen two all-terrain vehicles from him and demanded they be returned. No shots were fired and Taylor and Caughman left the scene before returning 10 minutes later. When they returned, Taylor exited the vehicle and began assaulting one victim, swinging and missing with a closed fist before a fight ensued. Caughman, who was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on the night of the incident, chased the other victim with a baseball bat before he and Taylor fled the scene. The incident took place less than two miles from Taylor's residence in Miami. The police do not know if the assault victims were involved with the theft of Taylor's vehicles.

If this is all true, that he left and took his gun away from the situation; That was a very smart thing in terms of not letting it get any more out of hand than it was.

Going back was a big mistake.

But how is it that the police / news knows he had a gun at the scene but don't know if the victims where involved with the car theft?

Redskins: Taylor released on bond
The News
Redskins' safety Sean Taylor was released from a Florida jail on Saturday night after posting a $16,500 bond. Earlier in the day, Taylor was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. The Associated Press notes that the police report includes a claim that Taylor pointed a gun at an unidentified person on Wednesday after arguing over two all-terrain vehicles the second-year player claims were stolen. The 22 year-old defensive back left the scene but returned 10 minutes later and allegedly punched one person.
Our View
The second-year safety has been holding out of offseason workouts in boycott of the seven-year deal he signed before last season. One can only hope that Taylor's latest arrest will cause him to drop his demands for a new contract and report to training headquarters while he still has some dignity.

Post Uh, like oops
Bennett's gun is left in car
June 10, 2005 BENN0610

A handgun discovered in a car rented by Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper on Thursday afternoon was registered and belonged to running back Michael Bennett, according to reports by KSTP (Ch. 5) and KMSP (Ch. 9).

KSTP reported Bennett and Culpepper had planned to go to a shooting range after the final day of this week's developmental camp at Winter Park. The two, however, changed their plans, and Culpepper dropped off the car at Hertz before heading home to Orlando, Fla. Bennett left the gun between the seats under a newspaper, where it was found by an employee who called the airport police.

Bennett appeared with his permit to carry a handgun after explaining what had happened on the phone, according to KMSP. The gun was returned to Bennett, and airport police determined they did not believe any laws were violated.

"The gun is legal; it's registered and everything," Bennett told KSTP. "I don't even know how everything got out. I was just questioned. ... It happened and I'm sorry for it. It will never happen again, I guarantee that."

With Onterrio Smith having been suspended by the NFL for the 2005 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy a third time, Bennett is the clear-cut favorite to be the Vikings' top running back.

Haven't seen this one posted yet...yeah Bears!!!

from ProFootballTalk.com

Quote:
TANK BUSTED ON GUN CHARGE

Bears defensive lineman Terry "Tank" Johnson was arrested early Saturday in Cook County, Illinois for unlawful possession of a handgun, according to The Chicago Tribune.

A valet reported that he saw Johnson moving a gun from his lap (insert cringe here) to the center console of his GMC Yukon. Police discovered a fully-loaded 9 mm Ruger in the parked vehicle. Johnson then was found at a Chicago nightclub.

Johnson's lawyer, Elliot Zinger (great name), says that his client made a mistake (no sh-t).

"He's from another state and not familiar with what's going on here," Zinger said.

Johnson's home state is Arizona and he played college football in Washington. Though we don't know whether either of those jurisdictions permit a guy to drive up and down the street with a loaded gun in his ride, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Anywhere.

Still, we figure Johnson will pick up some sort of a slap on the wrist, like most NFL players who violate the laws with which the rest of us routinely comply. And after he spends 40 hours or so scooping up dog sh-t from a city park, he can go back to cruising the Chicago streets with a loaded weapon.

I mean, you never know when you're gonna need to put a cap in someone's rectum, right?
