Post Injury updates/etc.

Roy Williams has been practicing more this week than he has in the past two weeks. Williams, the Lions' leading receiver with 27 catches for 395 yards and five TDs, has been limited by a sprained left ankle he suffered more than a month ago. He missed two games completely but is now trying to play over it. WR Az-Zahir Hakim, who has done the best job of picking up the slack for Charles Rogers (out for the season with a broken collarbone), did not practice at all Wednesday or Thursday because of back, knee and ankle injuries he suffered in the Lions loss to Washington. But he has indicated he expects to play Sunday at Jacksonville. LB Donte' Curry, who had arthroscopic knee surgery nearly a month ago, began practicing this week and was upgraded from doubtful to questionable on Thursday. Although Curry plays sparingly with the defense, he is one of the Lions best special teams players and might play Sunday at Jacksonville.

RB Kevin Jones, who has battled injury problems and a three-back rotation to get playing time, is expected to get the majority of carries when the Lions play Sunday at Jacksonville. Jones has gained just 227 yards on 69 rushing attempts in the first half of the season. The Lions are hoping he will get into a rhythm if he gets more than 12-15 carries per game.

Steve Mariucci is hoping the Lions can get their running game going. They have the worst rushing offense in the NFL.

Detroit rushed for just 64 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Washington Redskins, and its longest carry was an eight-yard scramble by quarterback Joey Harrington.

"It comes down to coaching, because we are going to have to find a way to run the ball," Mariucci said. "We have to be able to do that."

Mariucci has always been a firm believer in rotating his runners, and that was evident again Sunday when Kevin Jones led the team with 12 carries. Shawn Bryson had six and Artose Pinner carried twice.

"We're still trying to determine who our guy is going to be and then develop him," Mariucci said. "We've got two young guys in Kevin and Artose, and we need to come to grips with who we want to be the featured back."

Jones is only avg 3.2 yards a carry. I would love to see that go up this week.

I wonder if the O line can handle the Jags D line? those guys are big and fast. This is a must win if the Lions plan to stay in the Wild Card hunt (just wishful thinking)

If he is ever gonna bounce it outside, which he seems intent on doing, this would be the week. The Jaguars have two massive tackles inside just like the Lions. They are a little undersized at defensive end. Mooch might really try to break him out arround the right side of the line behind Woody and McDougle this week. I'd like to see Jones try to follow Sledge's lead a bit more on Sunday.
