Tigers Re-Sign Adam Everett

7:05pm: ESPN's Buster Olney tweets that Everett will receive $1.55MM.

4:13pm: The Tigers signed shortstop Adam Everett to a one-year deal, according to the team's Twitter account. The defensively-skilled Everett, 33 in February, had also drawn interest from the Pirates. Everett gets a one-year deal, according to John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press.

As far as starting shortstop candidates still on the free agent market, there's Orlando Cabrera, Miguel Tejada, and perhaps Bobby Crosby and Khalil Greene.



Only $1.5M, great signing for the minimal amount of cabbage. I know the guy can't hit, but his defense was the best on the market and this team is dead-set on not spending more money than they have to.

For that price he is worth it, but IMO only as a fill-in/stop-gap/sitautional defensive player. I would much rather see Santiago play every day, and use Everett as a player to rest him. Everett's bat is killer in the line-up. The dood flat out sucks.

I agree, but with a lead late in the game, there's nobody else at SS that I would want.

Especially with an improved pen that we'll have.
