I like to watch bowl games from an NFL prospect perspective. Here are the games on tap today (12/31) and who you might want to watch...
Sun Bowl - Oklahoma vs. Stanford **** (4 stars prospect game)
Chick-Fil-A Bowl - Tennessee vs. Virginia Tech ***
Texas Bowl - Missouri vs. Navy *
Insight Bowl - Iowa State vs. Minnesota *
Armed Forces Bowl - Air Force vs. Houston 1/2 *
NFL Draft prospects (in semi-draft order)
DT Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma) - could be the Lions top pick
S Eric Berry (Tennessee) - top ranked safety
OT Trent Williams (Oklahoma) - potential late top 10 pick
OLB Sean Weatherspoon (Missouri) - mid-late first round pick, best OLB?
DT Dan Williams (Tennessee) - mid-second round pick
RB Toby Gerhart (Stanford) - lead nation in rushing attempts, yards and TDs
FS Kam Chancellor (Virginia Tech) - 3rd round guy
RB Montario Hardesty (Tennessee)- late 3rd/4th round
CB Brian Jackson (Oklahoma) - 2nd day
CB Stephan Virgil (Virginia Tech) - 2nd day
OT Ed Wang (Virginia Tech) - 2nd day
QB Jonathan Crompton (Tennessee) - 2nd day
OT Chris Scott (Tennessee) - 2nd day
OG Sergio Render (Virginia Tech) - 2nd day
OLB Rico McCoy (Tennessee) - 2nd day
OG Reggie Stephens (Iowa State) - 2nd day
WR Danario Alexander (Missouri) - 2nd day
P Brent Bowden (Virginia Tech)
Too bad QB Sam Bradford and TE Jermaine Gresham from Oklahoma won't be playing but then again I don't see the Lions taking either of these positions.
Houston QB Case Keenum could opt for the NFL as well.
Feel free to add any other players you might be interested in.
I've been following the bowl games with an eye on the D-line prospects. The players that I felt made the biggest impressions so far have been, in order:
DT's- Suh, Odrick, Williams, McCoy
DE's- Heyward, Dunlap, Romeus, Wooton
