As first reported by ESPN, West Virginia University officials have confirmed that the NCAA is investigating the athletic program with a concern on possible rules violations within the football program. The key figure at the center of the investigation? Current WVU head man, and current head coach for the Michigan Wolverines, Rich Rodriguez.
Rodriguez's position at Michigan looks to be safe, according to an AnnArbor.com report stating that University of Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon says there is nothing that would change his mind on the position. Rodriguez's job was previously said to be safe for this season after the Michigan football program was investigated by NCAA for a violation of practice rules. Rodriguez and his staff were found to be guilty of those violations, but it seems now that this may not be a one time problem with Rodriguez.
ESPN's Mark Schlabach said that the NCAA is taking a look at practice schedules at West Virginia during Rodriguez's time on the Mountaineer sidelines. It is likely that this is a follow up investigation after Michigan was found to be guilty of five rules violations regarding practices with Rodriguez at the helm. West Virginia officials were quick to come out in September to address the concern in response to the investigations going on at Michigan. According to West Virginia University Athletic Director Ed Pastilong in The Charleston Gazette, the university took their own measures to assure that practice rules were not violated under Rodriguez, even going so far as setting up their own compliance record keeper. Pastilong says "We're very comfortable no NCAA rules were broken." That was back in September, before the NCAA came knocking on the front door of West Virginia.
The NCAA has been investigating the program over the past 45 days, which is probably making Pastilong a little more nervous than he expected to be last autumn. As is usually the case when news like this breaks, nobody is quick to say anything. The NCAA will not comment on the investigation, which is typical during an investigation, and nobody from West Virginia will leave a comment at this time. Representatives from the University of Michigan are also keeping tight lips, other than to say that Rodriguez is safe on their sideline for this season.
Rodriguez was asked about the investigation at West Virginia during yesterday's Big Ten coaches teleconference call with the media, but director of media relations Dave Ablauf interrupted the question about the West Virginia investigation. "We're going to pass on that," Ablauf said. "We're moving on to the next question." The university stated earlier in the spring that Rodrig is unable to comment on any NCAA investigation until the NCAA process is complete.

They should pull U$C's **** out their mouth, and investigate themselves for bias.

Huh? Are you not aware that USC has been investigated by the NCAA for the past several years?
