 Re: Lions Predictions
Well, now that the schedule is out, and before the draft changes my opinion, I offer my first version of Win/Loss predictions for 2010.
Rough start. 1st win Oct. 10 vs. St. Louis Take the confidence into a shocker against MY Giants. We might actually look like a professional football team by the time we get to Buffalo. I think we edge Chicago at home (I am not as high on them as every one else). Our final win comes Dec. 19th in Tampa Bay.
5-11
Earning a little respect back.
Who's with me (or better said, who thinks I am WAY off)?

 Re: Lions Predictions
I'm waiting until after the draft to make an "Official" prediction, but I suspect that it will be around the 5-11 range.

 Re: Lions Predictions
My endless optimism is going to put us at 7-9. I may raise that after the draft and the preseason.

A pre draft prediction: 4-12
Hoping for a solid draft... Could go up to 6 wins... but I'm not making any judgements just yet.

 Re: Lions Predictions
Like Sly, I will wait until after the draft is complete before I start projecting the Lions record. I am as much interested in what other teams do as I am what the Lions do. I have a feeling there will be a number of players traded during the draft, which will make a big difference in how some rosters play out. Albert Haynesworth, Greg Olsen, Marshawn Lynch and Jared Gaither are players that we might see move to other teams and shake things up a bit.

 Re: Lions Predictions
my bench mark for the lions post 0-16 rebuild is double each years previous wins, 0-16, 2-14, 4-12, 8-8, ect.
so this year lions minimum should be 4-12..
but i think they are a little bit ahead of the curve so officially my perdiction is 6-10.

 Re: Lions Predictions
I see no reason not to be optimistic.
I'll say 7-9 pre-draft. If we have a successful draft and remainder of offseason I'll even go so far as darkhorse playoff contender with a chance at 9-7.

 Re: Lions Predictions
Im gonna say 7-9 also.
Throw in a top notch OT and CB (or two) next year, and i can see 9-7 or 10-6.

 Re: Lions Predictions
http://detroitnews.com/article/20100426/SPORTS0101/4260341/1004/SPORTS/Now-it-s-up-to-the-coaches-to-improve-LionsI just looked over a column by John Niyo in the news where he lists the projected starting lineups. Assuming the Lions had a good eye for draft talent like they did last year, On Offense the only major hole is at L OT (though R OT is still a question). Niyo lists Felton as the starting FB, but we could start with Sheffler in a double TE set. The nice thing about the double TE's is the pressure it takes off both of the OT's. On defense, my biggest question is DeVries. Because I am a Line Fanatic (no pun intended) I think that if the O and D lines can dominate, all of our other weaknesses will be less of a problem. While the Lions lack depth at lots (and lots) of positions, I am greatly heartened at DT; Suh, Williams, Cohen, Fluellen, Hill. No longer late in the game will our DT's be blown out because what we have is too tired, small, weak or just plain lousy to do the job. If there is one thing that makes me excited, this is it. Again, "IF" the Lions drafted quality players, I like the Lions potential starting more than I have for a long while. That said, I've no reason to expect more than a 6 - 10 team and that doesn't really get me excited. We're no longer a laughingstock, but we are still a ways from competitive.

After a difficult start to the season, Schwartz pulls the guys together for the stretch run and they pull out a seven win season. Unfortunately, only one of those comes in the NFC North.

 Re: Lions Predictions
I would love to see this Game 1.
Best goes for 70+ yards to pay dirt the 1st time he touches the ball in the regular season. Serves notice to the NFC North that there is another Big Dawg in the neighborhood. ( AP, your not alone anymore.)
_________________ Fisher or Joekel or Lane Johnson for #5 overall. I have settled on Johnson as my preference. The only thing Joekel and Fisher have over him is experience at LT. 2 years from now, Lane Johnson will be known as the best LT of this draft!

. Wow. It's amazing to see what a difference 2 years has made. We actually have some decent talent in the starting positions. Our Dline is pretty decent. I think it's safe to say that DE will be high on the priority list in next seasons draft.
