If it was Da Bears vs. the Jets, I probably wouldn't have watched since I HATE both teams, so this is a good match-up for me anyways. It will probably be a close game, but I'm gonna say:
PACKERS 27 STEELERS 24

Speaking of the Pack, was just looking at the past decade worth of SB teams - in the last 10 years guess how many different teams the NFC has sent to the SB???

That would be 10, guess the Lions are more than due.

Steelers: Most Super Bowl wins and appearances with a 6-1 record. (will have 8 total tying them with the Cowboys)
Packers: 4th most wins and appearances with a 3-1 record.

I really can't call it but I would love to see Charles Woodson get a superbowl ring. Aaron rodgers too just to crap on Brett Favre

Unfortunately, the Lions also represent the NFC as the ONLY team in that conference that has never appeared at the SB, except of course as spectators.

I think the Steelers are going to beat the Packers and I think they're going to beat them fairly easily. I just don't see it being much of a game. I think the Pack will put up a small fight, but I think the Steelers are going to pretty much slowly roll over them. I really hope I'm wrong, as I would prefer the Pack win, but I just don't see it. As soon as the Patriots lost I said 'whelp, it looks like the Steelers just won the Super Bowl..." And the worst part is, I can't stand the Steelers or their fans... It disgusted me last night to hear one of their moronic fans yell "get him off the field" when Nick Mangold went down - classless...

I think like the Jets game the Steelers will take an early game lead. This is because they will destroy GBs mediocre Run game and give up almost nothing. They may get up by 2 TDs or more. Then GB will have to adjust, and All Star Aaron Rodgers will be forced to go Spread Pass Happy which the Steelers will have a lot harder time covering (still a good pass D , but Run D is amazing) and the game will get close. I expect them to still hold off and win but tjhe final margin may be closer to 1 TD and Steller fans will be sweating in the 4th.

In other words, it will play out exactly like the Jets game.

EDIT: Unless of course McCrthy makes the exact same realization and comes out in a No Huddle or Hurryup Pass Wacky offense from the start since thats what the jets almost used to get back into the game (Passing to set up the Run.. vs Running (near impossible) to set up the Pass). I dont think you can "confuse" the Steelers D or Dick LeBeau, but they definetly cant cover a slew of good receivers and an accurate QB as well as they can shut down the Running game.

EDIT2: Iknow its almost blasphemy but I will be rooting for the Pack. Like Rodgers, Like Woodson, respect our NFC N "friends" and the fact that they represent us as well since we beat them up in our last game with them. And the NFC in general. Steelers 24, Pack 20.

Since most are Big Ten fans, check out the long list of connections to the Big Ten:

Although my interest in Super Bowl XLV started to evaporate around 7 p.m. Sunday night, the Big Ten still will be well represented Feb. 6 at JerryWorld.

The Big Ten is the only conference to have at least one player from every member institution participating in the Super Bowl. The league will send 18 former players to Arlington, Texas, second most behind the SEC (20) and ahead of the ACC (14), Big 12 (13), MAC (13) and Pac-10 (10).

Here's the rundown of former Big Ten players and coaches in Super Bowl XLV:

GREEN BAY PACKERS

Players
Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
Charles Woodson, CB, Michigan
A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio State
Ryan Pickett, DL, Ohio State
Matt Wilhelm, LB, Ohio State
Andrew Quarless, TE, Penn State
Mike Neal, DE, Purdue
Mark Tauscher, OT, Wisconsin
Coaches
Dom Capers, defensive coordinator (assistant at Ohio State from 1982-83)
Joe Philbin, offensive coordinator (assistant at Iowa from 1999-2002)
Ben McAdoo, tight ends coach (assistant at Michigan State in 2001)
Darren Perry, safeties coach (played at Penn State from 1988-91)
Mike Trgovac, defensive line coach (played at Michigan from 1977-80; assistant at Michigan from 1985-86)
PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Players
Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
Antwaan Randle El, WR, Indiana
Larry Foote, LB, Michigan
Ryan Mundy, S, Michigan
LaMarr Woodley, LB, Michigan
Flozell Adams, OT, Michigan State
Matt Spaeth, TE, Minnesota
Trai Essex, G, Northwestern
Will Allen, S, Ohio State
Jeremy Kapinos, P, Penn State
Coaches
Dick LeBeau, defensive coordinator (played at Ohio State from 1956-58)
Randy Fichtner, quarterbacks (assistant at Purdue from 1985-86 and at Michigan from 1986-87)
Harold Goodwin, offensive assistant (played at Michigan from 1992-94; assistant at Michigan from 1995-96)
Kirby Wilson, wide receivers (played at Illinois from 1980-81)

Pretty good group overall.

If you're projecting the next Super Bowl MVP, you might want to look at this list. The Big Ten has produced the past two Super Bowl MVPs (former Purdue QB Drew Brees and former Ohio State WR Santonio Holmes) and four of the past nine winners.

I really really really hate the Steelers. I'm just tired of them, just as I'm tired of the Patriots. So I'm rooting for the Packers but I think the Steelers will win. I think it will be a good game--there really have been a few good Super Bowls in the past few years and I think this match up could be an interesting one.

Is it sacrilegious to root for the Pack as a Lions fan? I despise the Bears and Vikings but have never managed to muster up a strong distaste for the Packers. I've been rooting for them throughout the playoffs.
