 Re: On Line Detroit Games
I'm perfectly willing to pay the huge cost of Sunday Ticket but I need three of my neighbors to cut down about about five trees each in order for me to get a DirecTV signal, so that isn't an option for me. And a bar isn't a good place for me to bring my 2-year old.
If the NFL really wants to grow the game, they need to find a way to allow fans to watch. DirecTV isn't available to everyone.

 Re: On Line Detroit Games
I dont have a clue why they dont use NFL.COM better. If they can thread the games out 24 hours after the game for local blackouts why can't they throw a package together so that you can watch games there? It makes absolutly no sense to me.
Or if not them, why not Fox and CBS? they can sell advertisment time for those who are watching online! I just dont get it.

Getting Direct TV then buying an upgrade package to watch a few games is a silly way to provide your customers with what they need.

I am 17, and I got little money so buying NFL/NHL package is out of the question. With me going to college soon I probably won't be at home much anyways. I have a laptop though and I use that the most to watch games.

 Re: On Line Detroit Games
And it isn't just buying the NFL ticket... you have to get a service first, then extra packages. In the end you end up paying more for things you didn't want or need to get 16 games. It is not well thought out for the NFL. Why don't they just stream the games and lock the access based on IP address if there is a blackout.

On the bright side, Obama and his merry band of socialists may have a difficult time trying to shut down the new atdhe site with the .me suffix.

For anyone who's a tech geek like me and was wondering what .me meant, I looked it up and here's what it is: It's the top-level domain for Montenegro. So, I believe that means that these websites establish themselves as a Montenegro "company" which can't be seized or shut down by anyone except Montenegro. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Montenegro isn't too strict about that sort of thing

Service - yes; Extra packages - NO If you want NFL Sunday Ticket all you have to do is sign up for the lowest DirecTV package, then add Sunday Ticket before the season, there are NO other packages you need to get. Also, there are several ways to get discounts and extras when signing up. All in all it comes down to what your personal priorities are. If watching your team every Sunday is important, I'm quite sure you'll find a way to accomplish that. steensn wrote: It is not well thought out for the NFL. Prolly because peeps in the "blackout" area would just use proxies that aren't Another thought, you could always chip in with friends/roommates/etc and split any costs....

 Re: On Line Detroit Games
Lots of ideas to get around the fact that the offerings do not match the demand. Having to buy the basic service is an issue, I don't want it. It's why i don't get DSL, you have to pay for the phone line, so it really is not cheaper for crappier service.
There are ways around it yes, with proxies, but the # of people using the adht.me is more than the # of people that could figure out how to fix the system. This just gives them an option to get people to watch commercials they get paid for and capture some of that lost income.

 Re: On Line Detroit Games
One thing they prolly could do is to create a member area of NFL.com requiring registration, then allow peeps to "subscribe" to their teams and associated content...heck, they could prolly charge a nominal fee too. Personally I'm hoping the go to a Pay-Per-View type thing where I can get all Lions games only for cheaper price
