 Re: Goose's Mock Draft #1
How terrible would that be for the lions? I mean we would draft the 3rd OT in a draft that is terribly weak at the position and not draft the 2nd DE off the board in a draft where that is the strength. God do i prey this senario doesnt happen i would probibly drink myself into oblivion...

I'd take Jimmy Smith over Solder.. but that's just me.

ewwww
Goose usually does 3 mocks, which tend to change quite a bit. Hopefully, that's true again this year.

 Re: Goose's Mock Draft #1
Everyone's got Newton high. He's got "tremendous upside" which makes him attractive at the top of the draft, but I wouldn't want to be in the position to take him. This would be absolutely awful for the Lions. At that point they should trade down or take one of the DL-man or Jimmy Smith. I don't like Solder as much as Carimi so I'd rather take him even.

Ware was from a small school and had the small school virus. Newton won the National Championship and the Heisman. Newtin IMO will be about the same as Vince Young and his career, minus the insanity.

And VY has a NFL career 30-17 record, not too shabby and if you take away the insanity is that such a bad thing?

 Re: Goose's Mock Draft #1
And where has his record landed him? Vince was lucky to have the team (defense) he had around him.... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ycn-8304463Let's not judge the record, let's judge what Vince contributed to that record. Promising rookie season, if he got better, he looked to be a star. Alas, he didn't get better and to date has 42 Int to 42 TD passes, 150 yard average per game, with a 75% QB rating. His college skills didn't transfer to the NFL as I predicted, said the same about Russell, and I feel the same about Newton. I WILL feel the same about Pryor unless he learns to get some zip on those balls (he floats the ball too much).

 Re: Goose's Mock Draft #1
All that matters is where Newton will get drafted, and if he goes #1 overall then Goose is right (as usual).

 Re: Goose's Mock Draft #1
Right. VY won games and lost his damn mind. He's not necessarily going to light up the stat sheet, but if he can be the guy to guide a team to a win then he's got value. I don't know if the comparison is a fair one. VY had a lot more elusiveness then Newton, and Newton has a better throwing motion and mechanics. Big, black, and fast is about where the comparison ends. I think he's more of a Ben Roethlisberger then a VY.

And I would as well say he is likely to get drafted high, but that doesn't mean I would put him high on my prospect rating big board like he did. If I did a mock draft I would put him high, but my big board would reflect something much different.
