Re: Various Mock Draft postings for 2011
I think Seattle is using Curry wrong still and at LB you don't need to be "thinking" about what you are doing - you just need to be playing and I don't believe the Seahawks have allowed him to do that yet.
As for Stafford vs. Curry, always go with the franchise QB if you don't have one. It was the right pick by Mayhew and company.
Interesting to look at the top that draft, who would you want out of the top 8 picks:
1 Lions Matthew Stafford QB 2 Rams Jason Smith OT 3 Chiefs Tyson Jackson DE 4 Seahawks Aaron Curry OLB 5 Jets Mark Sanchez QB 6 Bengals Andre Smith OT 7 Raiders Darrius Heyward-Bey WR 8 Jaguars Eugene Monroe OT
Gimme a QB please...

I like Stafford and I think he'll end up being better then Sanchez, but I am concerned with the injuries he's suffered since entering the league though.

Re: Various Mock Draft postings for 2011
Guys I need some help. Going to a friends draft party on Thursday night and he just called and said to make up a Mock draft. I just need to know if my draft I made up is just completely stupid. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on mocks and where players go. I certainly don't think, however, that your mock is "completely stupid" at all - in fact I think it looks pretty decent - nice job.

Maybe Mallett as well. I don't want either one of them going to the Vikings.
_________________ Fisher or Joekel or Lane Johnson for #5 overall. I have settled on Johnson as my preference. The only thing Joekel and Fisher have over him is experience at LT. 2 years from now, Lane Johnson will be known as the best LT of this draft!

killer wrote: 1. Carolina: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn -- Clearly a desperation pick for the Panthers.
2. Denver: Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M -- Marcell Dareus is also strong consideration.
3. Buffalo: Marcell Dareus, DT, Florida -- Wanted Miller, but Dareus is good consolation.
4. Cincinnati: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia -- The Ochocinco Show has been cancelled.
5. Arizona: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU -- They need a QB, but he's too good to pass up.
6. Cleveland: Julio Jones, WR, Alabama -- Good pick for a team that can't score points.
7. San Francisco: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri -- All that Alex Smith talk was just that -- talk.
8. Tennessee: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn -- Time to re-tool that defense.
9. Dallas: Tyron Smith, T, USC -- Aging offensive line needs a spark.
10. Washington: J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin -- They'll also consider Robert Quinn here.
11. Houston: Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri -- Curses can be heard in Lions' war room.
12. Minnesota: Jake Locker, QB, Washington -- They need defense, too, but desperate for QB.
13. Detroit: Prince Amukamara, CB Nebraska -- Solid player, fills an immediate need.
14. St. Louis: Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina -- Rams thrilled that he dropped this far.
15. Miami: Cameron Jordan, DE, California -- They'll consider a QB, but will pass.
16. Jacksonville: Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue -- A high-motor guy with excellent production.
17. New England: Anthony Castonzo, T, Boston College -- Run on DL allows him to slide.
18. San Diego: Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA -- This club needs a lot of defensive help.
19. N.Y. Giants: Mike Pouncey, C, Florida -- Ideal situation for a run blocker.
20. Tampa Bay: Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson -- His long slide ends here.
21. Kansas City: Gabe Carimi, T, Wisconsin -- Extremely physical; fits that running game.
22. Indianapolis: Nate Solder, T, Colorado -- At one point, considered the best OT in draft.
23. Philadelphia: Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa -- Injury issues, but a steal if he's healthy.
24. New Orleans: Muhammad Wilkerson, DT, Temple -- Perfect fit for this scheme.
25. Seattle: Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois -- Trenches need to be addressed.
26. Baltimore: Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado -- He could also got to Philly at No. 23.
27. Atlanta: Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State -- Great value for this point of the draft.
28. New England: Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama -- They'll think about taking him at No. 17.
29. Chicago: Derek Sherrod, T, Mississippi State -- Lots of pass rushers in the NFC North.
30. N.Y. Jets: Phil Taylor, DT, Baylor -- More muscle for that defense.
31. Pittsburgh: Aaron Williams, CB, Texas -- They'll see Manning and Brady in playoffs.
32. Green Bay: Justin Houston, OLB, Georgia -- More pass rush for that defense.

Re: Various Mock Draft postings for 2011
I'm all over the freaking place today. I feel very hopeful, I feel like crap. I don't think I've ever seen so much uncertainty in a draft before, and I've been deeply following it for a decade. I mean every possibility is a real possibility.
The First Round Emotion Meter
Draft Ecstasy: - Robert Quinn falls to the 13th pick - Trade down to who knows where, but pick up extra picks/future picks (Ras-I, Bruce Carter, Moffit?)
Draft Dreams Shattered: - Picking an offensive tackle (and not even the top one on your board) - Picking Aldon Smith - Picking Mark Ingram
Why Is This Happening To Me? - Nick Fairley is on the board and nobody is calling - Julio Jones is on the board and nobody is calling
Draft Contentment: - With the 13th overall pick, the Detroit Lions select Prince Amakamura. Cornerback. Nebraska University. - With the 13th overall pick, the Detroit Lions select Jimmy Smith. Cornerback. Colorado University.
Not Excited, But I Understand: - Mike Pouncey - Cameron Jordan or JJ Watt
Pretending to be pissed like the rest of you but Secretly Happy - Da'Quan Bowers - Akeem Ayers - Adrian Clayborn
What the &#$(&* just happened here? - The Lions pull a Vikings and don't get their pick in on time. - The Cleveland Browns have traded the 5th overall pick to the Detroit Lions - "With the 5th Overall pick, the Lions select LSU Cornerback, Patrick Peterson." - What is Von Miller doing at 13?

That is a very interesting post, and I have to admit that I agree with most of it. I kinda laugh at the part about no one calling if Fairley or Jones falls to us, because thats just our luck!

Re: Various Mock Draft postings for 2011
ooohhhh, I wanna play
The First Round Emotion Meter
Draft Ecstasy: - Nick Fairley falls to the 13th pick (Goose has me dreaming) - Trade down to the 20's and pick up a Castonzo, Smith or Bowers and get extra 2nd and 3rd round picks
Draft Dreams Shattered: - Picking Ryan Kerrigan (although in time I could warm up to him) - Picking Nate Solder (I'd throw up in my mouth) - Picking Aldon Smith (I'd throw up on Killer)
Why Is This Happening To Me? - only one QB goes in the top 12 - only one prospect I really like is there at 12 and you know what happens next
Draft Contentment: - With the 13th overall pick, the Detroit Lions select Prince Amakamura. Cornerback. Nebraska University. - With the 13th overall pick, the Detroit Lions select Tyron Smith. Offensive Tackle, USC.
Not Excited, But I Understand: - Anthony Costonzo (my most "meh" pick possible) - Cameron Jordan or JJ Watt (neither is exciting but both will be solid pros)
Pretending to be pissed like the rest of you but Secretly Happy - Julio Jones (kid is clean, and a great player) - Da'Quan Bowers (not a man of faith but I'd be praying for some knee healing) - Corey Liuget (I know a DT, but kid is underrated and him and Suh - ouch) - Jimmy Smith (I love his talent but can't really support him publically now can I)
What the &#$(&* just happened here)? - The Lions trade there first round pick to X for their first round pick in 2012 - The Lions select Jimmy Smith but find out a few minutes later he was just arrested for X - Matt Millen is critisizing the Lions draft selections on TV

How do you guys feel now? Mixed emotions...... I'm happy that Mayhew stuck to his board and went BPA. I just hope Fairley works hard like Suh and becomes a tremendous player for us. At the same time, I still wish the Lions could have swung a deal to move down, get some additional picks and fill some obvious needs.
