C'mon now, Blueskies. You and I both know that that article is disingenuous, at best. Most of those so-called "facts" are meaningless if they're not calculated as a percentage of GDP or adjusted for inflation.
Worse, it attempts to compare military spending to feeding families in order to elicit an emotional response. If they can say that "The yearly cost of stationing one soldier in Iraq could feed 60 American families.", then I can state that the Solyndra loan could have fed 82,000 families. I used their math to calculate that figure btw. See what I just did there?
Another whopper is, "Each day in Afghanistan costs the government more than it did to build the entire Pentagon." Since it cost $80 million to build in 1943 dollars, I could then say that the US Government spends enough each day to build 125 Pentagons. See what I just did there again?
I know that you and I are going to disagree a lot over military spending, even though we do agree on some issues, but you can do better than this.
