Re: New 2012 NFL Mock Draft
Most draft websites go off what they perceive team needs. It's the reason why most of those same sites have a tab or thread that will cover what they feel are team needs. Even though CB obviously isn't a big need for us, I think many feel that the Lions need a big physical corner to start jamming some of the bigger receivers in the league. I wouldn't oppose that, as long as the player taken is a value at the spot, and there's no one else available that is a similar value that fills a greater need.
Plus, many sites look at who the teams won't have under contract at years end. If it's a starter (Eric Wright), then they see that as a need.

2 things...whats with the old bubbles?? gotta update that bro, our logo chabnged like 3 years ago.
And 2nd. Tullock is staying. he's here cuz he wants to be and only signed a 1 year contract due to the money that opens up with the expansion of next years cap.
that pick is the only one i looked at and the likelyhood of that happening is minimal at best.

Re: New 2012 NFL Mock Draft
Update for Wednesday, November 16NFL Draft Site Lions are picking 22nd in each round
Rnd 1 - OLB Courtney Upshaw, Alabama
Rnd 2 - DE Bruce Irvin, West Virginia
Rnd 3 - OG Joel Foreman, Michigan State
Rnd 4 - QB Kellen Moore, Boise State
Rnd 5 - RB isaiah Pead, Cincinnati
Rnd 6 - CB Jordan Mabin, Northwestern
Rnd 7 - FORFEIT (KC tampering charge)
I have to say this is the worst effort yet by this particular site. David DeCastro's name doesn't appear, and they have the Lions passing on Cordy Glenn in round one. While I like Upshaw, I think Glenn is an immediate upgrade and is a good value at #22. DeCastro would be even better.

If the Lions can grab a solid interior lineman, I think they'll do it. The move for Leonard Davis says something about their confidence in Stephen Peterman and I can imagine them looking for long-term upgrade. Of course the Lions don't draft for need, so who knows what they'll do. Also, I'm a well-documented WVU homer but I don't see great NFL potential in Bruce Irvin. Round 2 is probably a few rounds too high, and he'll likely play OLB in a 3-4. He was dominant last year as a pass rush specialist (in four-man fronts) but as an every-down lineman this year (mostly 3-man fronts), he hasn't been effective. He needs a lot of strength and conditioning work and even then he'll probably still be best suited for the 3-4.

Re: New 2012 NFL Mock Draft
Havent watched Cordy Glenn much, but from what Ive seen from DeCastro, the Lions would do themselves a huge favor by drafting him if he comes out early.

Agreed, but unless the Lions tank the rest of the season or trade up, I don't think they get him. There are some analysts saying that they see DeCastro as possibly moving to LT in the pros, much like Roger Saffold was able to do. If the scouts and coaches see him as a franchise LT, he'll be long gone.

Re: New 2012 NFL Mock Draft
what would you think of the following draft from the Lions:
1. Kevin Reddick OLB - UNC Levy could be upgraded or possibly moved back inside at some point. Tulloch and Durant are good but on short term deals. Would be ideal to take a LT here but I dont like the kid from OSU and he might be the best available at this point in rd 1. 2. Zebrie Sanders OT - Florida St Might not be the answer at LT but there is a place for him on the OL immediately at RT or RG and he is a very good aggressive run blocker. 3. Robert Lester S Alabama Should start immediately for us if he s available this late. Maybe not the best vs the run but good in coverage. Not happy with Spievey and not sure Chris Harris is a long term answer. (Play Ricardo Silva!!!) 4. Juron Criner WR - Arizona Another talented target for the passing game. Burleson is expensive and wont be around forever, Titus Young is a weapon but may not necessarily be a true No 2 WR, besides 3 good WRs is a necessity. 5. Kevin Zeitler OG Wisconsin Strong powerful run blocker that is athletic enough and works hard enough to develop. 6. Trumaine Johnson CB Montana A little bit of a project but has good size and speed. Would do well with veteran influence and leadership our defense already has.

How about the center from Michigan? Any idea where he's gonna go?

Re: New 2012 NFL Mock Draft
Anyone got any info on Zebrie Sanders the LT/RT from Florida State? I think we could nab him in the second round and it'd be an upgrade for our line. I feel like we can find a quality C/G in the 4th round or so.
I'm liking what I'm hearing about Chase Minnifield CB from Virginia. Good size at 6 foot and good speed. If we traded down a few picks in the first we could nab him.

I am intrigued by Chase Minnifield because his dad Frank was a really good DB in the NFL. Not saying he will be as good as his dad. But, you never know.
