Bumping this to add my comment:

I don't understand the love for Gingrich. He's an opportunist and not a real Conservative.

If he goes against Obama, they will run a campaign slamming Gingrich for all his personal demons. Gingrich will have to respond, and the discourse will shift away from where it should be--the state of the economy.

I've never really been a fan of Newt... I see no reason to change that now.

Post Re: Newt Gingrich: Serial Hypocrisy
I posted in another thread that I support Newt now. Sure, he has baggage, may not be conservative enough, and has flip-flopped on many issues, but every candidate has flaws and/or perceived weaknesses. But what sets him apart to me is his debating skills and his willingness to do battle with the lamestream media. Anybody who thinks that the media won't be in the tank for Obama or won't attempt to destroy the GOP candidate, is either naive or kidding themselves. Newt has shown in the debates that he won't play by the liberal media's rules and has no problem with turning the tables on them. Unfortunately, most other GOPers try to play nice with the media and that's a losing strategy. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing Newt destroy the Bolshevik Boy Wonder in a debate. He's even said that he'll allow Obama to use a teleprompter just to make it fair.

One more thing that most people don't know, but it's very important to me, is that Newt doesn't have the support of the GOP Establishment because they know he would shake it up. If you want change in Washington or within the party itself like I do, don't support those who the establishment endorses because it will only continue the status quo. Support whichever candidate the establishment fears, and right now, that's Newt.

Ron Paul wouldn't be able to win a debate against Obama. His viewpoint is too far out there on too many issues, and Ron Paul lives and dies with his "vision." He refuses to buckle on issues that are complete nonsense. I don't care who the president is there's no way we're dismantling the IRS and the FED without some serious revision. He over-simplifies everything, fails to see long-term effects, world effects, and side effects to his "vision," making his policies impossible at best, if not self-destructive.

After withstanding the attacks from last night's debate, Newt is the GOP nominee. I'll be shocked if he isn't. Furthermore, the Obama Campaign has launched attack ads against him saying that he's the "Original Tea Partier" and the "Godfather of Gridlock". I personally think those are good things, which just goes to show you how out of touch with reality that Obama actually is.

My gut still tells me that Romney pulls this out, and then loses to Obama. We'll see, however.

He's just ranting about anarchy. I don't want to choose to not have a govt. Would I prefer govt. be less intrusive and smaller? Hell yea I would, in fact, I think the majority of American's would. The problem is, how do you down size it? Most people want to shrink the govt., but the problem is that most people want to shrink it in different ways. Various people think that the EPA, Military, FDA, ATF, CIA, FBI, IRS, etc. should either be greatly expanded or disbanded. How do you rectify it?

IMO the "REAL" problem is that the media, lobbyists, and wealthy are the major players in this deal, not us. They control the information and the wealth, and with it they can manipulate public sentiment to further their abuses. Most people are dumb and fall for it. We can't have a "real" presidential candidate, of the people and by the people. If that candidate speaks out against current policy in a way that harms their way of life they destroy him. Look at Herman Cain... I'm not saying he was the "People's President," but he could have been... He was at least of that elk, and he was destroyed over repeated, unproven allegations.

Yeah, Molyneux is a nut. I find him entertaining though.

The best part is his "you're just changing the hood ornament on the car" bit. That's pretty much how I think it is.

Swapping Romney or Gingrich for Obama will have little to no affect on the course of this country's future.

That part I can't agree with. Obama created all of these "Czars," has made every attempt to avert Congress and implement his own socialist programs, and Obama spends money like he's going to take his dying breath in the next 6 weeks. He's literally mortgaging the future of our country, seeing how far he can push "socialism" and social welfare, and he's doing it in a fashion that creates new programs that aren't going to be easily undone once implemented.

If Obama is in office for another term "Obama Care" will be come the norm, the U.S. will have social medicine, it will destroy our budget (which is already in shambles) and he will continue his assault on class warfare. Newt or Romney at least won't do that, and they'll probably be able to get rid of Obama Care before it gets out of hand.

And...he's gone. Just like Bachmann, Perry, Cain...etc. Now its Santorum, who will probably last 60 days.

The race will be Romney vs Paul vs Obama. (Paul as third party)

Unfortunately not true. Federal Czars have been around since FDR days.

What socialist programs? Obama care? It was a ripoff of Romney care in Massachusetts, it was a Republican idea. He spent crazy amounts of money, just like GWB before him, and while he doesn't want to cut anything, Republicans don't either (or they want to cut a paltry $100B as if that makes a difference whatsoever).
