10 Gayest Cities in America (2 from MI on the list)
http://news.advocate.com/post/155717345 ... erica-2012Quote: 10. Grand Rapids, Mich.
The heart of western Michigan LGBT life is in Grand Rapids, with dancing, drinking, and bingo at the Apartment (ApartmentLounge.net), which has been in operation for over three decades; karaoke at Diversions video bar (DiversionsNightclub.com), and drag shows and go-go boys at Rumors (RumorsNightclub.net). The city boasts one of the Midwest’s best LGBT country line-dancing scenes, with the Grand River Renegades (GrandRiverRenegades.com) offering anyone a dance card on Sundays at Rumors.
9. Atlanta 8. Knoxville 7. St. Paul and Minneapolis
6. Ann Arbor, Mich.
You don’t have to be big to have it going on, as this sixth largest city in Michigan does. The area has one of the few clubs in Michigan catering to dykes: Stiletto’s (technically in nearby Inkster) draws in every lesbian in Detroit. But talk about a taste for drama! Just ask U. of M.’s first out student body prez, Chris Armstrong, the target of a smear campaign by nutso assistant attorney general Andrew Shirvell. We raised a glass at Aut Bar (AutBar.com) when the kook got the boot.
5. Seattle 4. Fort Lauderdale 3. Cambridge 2. Orlando 1. Salt Lake City

I'm surprised Austin, TX isn't on that list.

The SF natives, from what I saw when I was there, really aren't different, aside from the fact that they're generally wealthy and out of town. I don't know how the City got so damn Liberal, but the majority of SF that I visited was very, IDK, hetero?

SF is not as gay as everybody thinks... its VERY gay friendly, but the gay community is not as large as cities like Seattle. Unlike other cities SF is very open about it and is not ashamed to show support for gay pride which would obviously lead everybody to assume its the gayest city.

Not shocked about the list at all. And living in Minnesota, I do agree with Saint Paul and Minneapolis being gay.

People really need to read the article first before they post about _______ city not being on the list. They had a criteria they used to judge each city, and these are the ranks accordingly. It doesn't mean it's the end all be all of lists. Reading comprehension people...

I'm just saying that, if they knew about Ferndale, or "rated" Ferndale, it would be high on the list, even given their criteria.
