1. Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al-Megrhi 2. Etta James 3. Hugo Chavez 4. Robin Gibb 5. Gary Carter 6. Raven Alexis 7. Bashar al-Assad 8. Terry Pratchett 9. Lee Evans (Olympics) 10. Orlando Thomas 11. Bill Janklow 12. Darrel Akerfelds Good call on Raven Alexis. Didn't realize she was sick, probably because I only listen to Stern a couple days a week now when I drive to work. Was looking for some porn star to add to my list for lifestyle and was going to try Bree Olson just because she's a little nuts, but then saw that she's "retired" (I give it three months). Almost took that other Sheen girl, too, the drunk. It's like you have a hotline to cancer victims.

I can't believe that no one has America's hero... Hugh Hefner.

It's like you have a hotline to cancer victims. I actually have a system I use that I refuse to divulge. It allowed me to stumble upon Raven on the 30th and I finalized my list that night. I added Janklow and Akerfelds at that time too. I almost pushed the boundary of what a "celebrity" is by including Tamara Grigsby and Susan Clark, but I didn't think a Wisconsin state congresswoman or a radio personality from Montana fit that description. Good luck to everyone, but I think I'm gonna win this thing again.

 Re: 2012 Celebrity Death Pool
ALthough this is rather morbid for a thread, it is kind of interesting in a way.
As for your "system," I wonder how much traveling you do? Coincidence?
how about listing who these "stars" are, so that I, or someone else, doesn't google a name and come up with a porn blast.

 Re: 2012 Celebrity Death Pool
And I'm on the board with 28 points: AP wrote: Former SD Gov., US Rep. Bill Janklow dead at 72 By CHET BROKAW, AP
PIERRE, S.D. — As governor of South Dakota for 16 years, Bill Janklow was always in a hurry — pushing lawmakers to approve his proposals and racing to disaster sites to take charge. His need for speed also likely played a role in his one regret: the 2003 fatal traffic accident that landed him in jail and ended his political career.
As South Dakota's attorney general, governor and congressman, the colorful politician dominated the state's political landscape for more than a quarter century, changing the face of the state's economy, education system and tax structure. Even his enemies — and there were many — admitted the Republican had a talent for getting things done, even as they complained that he ran roughshod over his opponents.
Janklow died shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday of brain cancer after being moved to hospice care in Sioux Falls earlier in the week, his son Russ Janklow said. He was 72.

 Re: 2012 Celebrity Death Pool
I heard grim news on the radio today concerning Gary Carter's prognosis. I knew he was sick but I didn't realize he was this sick. Obviously Sly knew...
I met Gary Carter when I was a kid. He was my favorite baseball player at the time, so it was pretty awesome to meet him and get an autograph, which I still have.

AP wrote: Legendary blues singer Etta James dies in Calif. By ROBERT JABLON, AP
LOS ANGELES — Etta James' performance of the enduring classic "At Last" was the embodiment of refined soul: Angelic-sounding strings harkened the arrival of her passionate yet measured vocals as she sang tenderly about a love finally realized after a long and patient wait.
In real life, little about James was as genteel as that song. The platinum blonde's first hit was a saucy R&B number about sex, and she was known as a hell-raiser who had tempestuous relationships with her family, her men and the music industry. Then she spent years battling a drug addiction that she admitted sapped away at her great talents.
The 73-year-old died on Friday at Riverside Community Hospital, with her husband and sons at her side, De Leon said.
http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-national/20120120/US.Obit.Etta.James/?cid=hero_mediaEtta James was probably the surest pick in nearly every Celebrity Death Pool this year. I think over 60 people had her in the other one I play in. This increases my score to 55 points, while fetumpsh has gotten on the board with 27. RIP Etta. Mwill2, that is sad news about Gary Carter. When I selected him, I heard that the brain tumor was inoperable, but he still had atleast a 50/50 chance of surviving beyond this year. Now, that doesn't appear likely.

 Re: 2012 Celebrity Death Pool
I was SURE I had Etta James in mine. Damn. Not like it matters--Sly has this thing wrapped up already. I need to do my damned homework before I play this game again.

 Re: 2012 Celebrity Death Pool
I may not be Sicilian, but I am the Grim Reaper, especially when libtards, commies, environazis, and assorted other scumbags are involved. Afterall, the only good commie, is a dead commie. Getting back on topic, I take Celebrity Death Pool very seriously. I'm disappointed in the participation on this board, but I play in another with 150-200 other entries. I finished 23rd last year and 13th the year before that. I'm going for the win this time, but we'll see what happens. The key is doing some research beforehand.

 Re: 2012 Celebrity Death Pool
Points for Paterno are imminent--not many, but every point counts against Sly's master list.
