Lions will raise ticket prices in 2012
It was only a matter of time and, I suppose, expected after the first playoff appearance in a dozen years... PFT wrote: Lions will raise ticket prices in 2012Posted by Josh Alper on February 3, 2012, 10:39 AM EST The Lions made the playoffs this season for the first time since 1999 and they are using that success as a way to raise a little more revenue. Lions president Tom Lewand announced Friday that the team will be raising ticket prices at Ford Field for the 2012 season. It’s the first hike in prices in five years for the Lions and that increase was followed by a winless season. No one’s expecting that this time around. Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that the team will be raising prices an average of eight percent. The most expensive non-premium seats will go from $90 to $99 a game while the cheapest seats will see a bump from $30 to $35 per game. According to Lewand, the Lions will rank either 23rd or 24th in the league when it comes to prices after the increases are put in place. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... s-in-2012/

It's warranted.

And that is more than it should be given the last decade.

Re: Lions will raise ticket prices in 2012
I'm a little peeved that ticket prices and fan appreciation was never considered when we were horrible, and at the first hint of success they hike prices. The fact that they haven't been raised in 5 years is a non-issue... They didn't raise them them because we sucked. They literally couldn't raise them.
That said, what really peeves me is the price gouging at the concession stands, and the poor quality food they serve. My favorite part about watching a game at the Superdome was that I could get a great quality, real sandwich, that actually filled me up for $9.

I don't ever remember actual game ticket prices going down, only Lewand allowing season tickets to be split into two four game packages. I know our season tickets went up virtually every year, and we bowed out after the 0-16 season.

Google is your friend. http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2012/02/detroit_lions_to_raise_ticket.htmlFrom that article: Between the 2007 and 2011 season, Detroit decreased its average ticket price three times. The Lions were one of only two team in the NFL do so during that time span.

I don't care what the prices are, as long as there's no blackouts!

Re: Lions will raise ticket prices in 2012
I'm not thrilled about having to pay more but the last I checked the salary cap has gone up every year and the Lions have always bumped up against it. If their costs go up it only stands to reason that the seat costs follow.

I was simply answering your question and pointing out where I got the info from, and how easy it was to find.
