Hahaha... Aren't they both not only non-profit, but also, don't they both get government funding? Everyone knows that both NPR and PBS are partisan, and IMO they should both lose any govt. funding that they currently get. The case for NPR and PBS is now gone. There are plenty of "free" choices that are much better. The programming on both is a joke, even if I would miss "Antique Roadshow" and "This Old House"!

This comment just reminded me about a conversation I had this weekend that was rather funny. I was talking about political ideology using a football field as a benchmark. We used the 50 yard line to describe a moderate Independent and moved right from there. The RINO establishment was at the 45. The average conservative Republican was placed at the 20 yard line. The Tea Party was described as being 1st and goal from the 2 inch line. Meanwhile, if you climbed the stands to the Bob Uecker nosebleed seats and used a pair of binoculars, you could see me out in the parking lot cooking brats.

I find it interesting that people perceive the party that way, but part of it is branding... Some people call RINOs the religious conservatives, others call them "average conservatives." IMO the biggest problem is there really isn't a "fiscal conservative" brand, and IMO that's where most of us are at. I think the Tea Party is starting to bring that around, and while I would tend to think they're the most moderate (because many Dem. constituents are fiscally conservative too), they get branded the most radical - crazy...
And again, to tie this all together... I think its the media's fault, and I think they do it on purpose. I think they NEED "Tea Partiers" to be branded "Tea Baggers" and they NEED moderate, fiscally responsible people to be "radical zealots" because otherwise their socialist agenda comes crumbling down.

Bingo. The Tea Party and fiscal conservatives are labeled as extremists because we oppose the left's socialist agenda and unsustainable spending/debt. It really ought to be the other way around, but the Marxists control the media and the narrative.

An example of the 'beloved' Fox News not being consistent and providing accurate information:
Fox News wrote:
GOP candidates face off in high-stakes debate in Arizona
Published February 23, 2012 | FoxNews.com
MESA, Arizona – The Republican presidential candidates head back on the campaign trail Thursday after a debate in Phoenix, Ariz. that, while fiery at times, ultimately changed little in the race for the 2012 presidential nomination.
At least they started off correct is saying Mesa, AZ, however in the first sentence they call it Phoenix (hell, the venue was Mesa Arts Center). Phoenix is the 6th most populous city in the US, Mesa is the 38th.

You're joking, right?
Mesa is 20 miles outside of Phoenix. That's like a news source saying that an event is in Detroit when it's really in Auburn Hills. No one has heard of Auburn Hills, most people have heard of Detroit, so the major metropolis rather than the small town is generally reported as the location.
I really can't even believe you brought this up, and it is a blatant display of blindness and one-sidedness, IMO.

Detroit is the 18th most populous city in the US; Auburn Hills isn't even in the Top 275:
Perhaps a better comparison would be to use Warren, MI (#185). I don't recall hearing Warren referred to as Detroit all too often. BTW, since when is a population of almost .5 million a "small town"???
All in all what this points to is a lack of research and consistency.

What's your point? I've never heard of Mesa, Az, not in any geographical sense anyhow. I wouldn't know where it was if you asked me. Phoenix, on the other hand, I've heard of, and so has everyone else. The fact remains that it's not uncommon for a news source to point to the most prominent location near the actual event when providing a description of where something "is."

If Fox News' biggest mistake is typing Phoenix instead of Mesa, one would think that they are doing pretty good.
It's no worse than the Office of the Vice President of the United States sending out a memo that Joe Biden would be visiting "Road Island".

IF that were a particular news companies biggest mistake, then I would tend to agree; however as I'm sure we can agree, news companies make many more mistakes than that...

In case you didn't know what Bill Maher's political ideology was, you do now:
Washington Compost wrote:
Bill Maher gives $1 million to pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA By Dan Eggen
Comedian Bill Maher has pledged $1 million to a super PAC supporting President Obama's reelection bid, some welcome news for a group that has struggled to raise money compared with its conservative rivals.
The gift to Priorities USA Action comes after the PAC’s dismal fundraising month in January. It managed to bring in only $58,800 while conservative super PACs are bringing in millions.
The group has raised about $4.4 million since last year, $2 million of which came from Hollywood mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg.
Obama shifted course earlier this month by announcing that he would support Priorities USA Action and would allow aides and Cabinet members to help raise money for it.
Super PACs have come to dominate spending in the GOP primaries because they are allowed to raise and spend unlimited amounts of money on elections.
The host of HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher" announced his donation Thursday during a webcast for a Yahoo! standup comedy series.
"Most important advice I ever got in show business, as true today as then: Always bring your wallet onstage," Maher said in a Twitter post.
Priorities USA Action sent its own tweet, thanking Maher for his “generous donation.”

Bill maher is an asshat who thinks that anyone who disagrees with him is stupid. I have no tolerance for those types of people. The world would be a smidgen better of a place if he jumped in front of a bus.
