I'm not really good 3rd, alright at SS, but I love 2nd. Third base was honestly too fast for me. I could have probably handled it if I took a zanex (joking), but my problems over there were more psychological than anything. I'd sike myself out and sh!t the bed on balls that were drilled in my direction. Let me ask you this... How often through out the season do you see BOUNCED BALLS drill 3rd basemen in the face? Practically never... I'm just relaying what some guy said on SportsCenter. I've never played the position so I have no clue what it's like.

The fact that he was wearing sunglasses probably saved him from receiving much more damage. Without the sunglasses, the cut might not have been as bad, but the structural damage would have been far worse.

i dont know about that, sunglasses dont have that much cushion or structure in them - he wasnt wearing protective goggles. kinda wonder if he did not see the ball take the weird bounce bc it looked like he didnt react until it hit im in the face, might have gotten hit bc he was wearing them...

I won't argue that your typical pair of sunglasses don't consist of much structure or cushioning...but they will certainly slow down and absorb the energy of the ball better than air will.

It seems like everyone wears sunglasses in the field these days, not like the old days when you had the ones that flipped down on a fly ball or pop up. Heck, I even seen catchers wear them under the mask.

After seeing game 2, could you imagine if the Tigers had gone after Pujoles also? If memory serves correct, Pujoles was originally a 2nd baseman. Could you imagine Fielder at 1st, Pujoles at 2nd, Peralta at SS, and Cabrera at 3rd? The resulting lineup would be death row for opposing Pitchers. LOL.

Are we ready to admit that Miggy at 3rd wasn't nearly as bad as you thought yet?
tied for 6th ranked 3rd baseman at Fielding Percentage 6th ranked 3rd baseman in Range Factor 9th least errors for 3rd baseman 1st in Put outs 2nd in Double Plays started
BTW those rankings are in the MLB not just the AL.

he s not as bad as i thought but those stats IMO are not particularly useful - he is almost always the worse of the 2 fielding 3B in the lineup on whatever particular night (except when we played baltimore w betemit). he still misses a ton of balls that dont get called errors that IMO other 3B get. its probably about 1 ball per series on average.

You really can't argue the PO stat, that proves the exact opposite of what you are saying. Not only are more ball hit his way, he's also fielding the majority of them.

You will never get them to admit they were wrong. Apparently, they think it will make them look vulnerable and weak or something. LOL
