CJ to represent Lions for Madden cover...DONT VOTE FOR HIM!
For cryin' out loud, that is the last thing we need is for the Madden Curse to strike Detroit. Quote: One week after agreeing to a seven-year contract extension with the Detroit Lions, wide receiver Calvin Johnson earned the right to represent the team in the Madden '13 cover vote.
Johnson emerged victorious in a head-to-head vote against teammate Matthew Stafford in the play-in round of the competition. Johnson, a six seed, will open the official tournament against fellow receiver Dwayne Bowe.
Voting will be open for one week, concluding next Wednesday.
If Johnson can upend Bowe, the Lions' star faces a potential matchup with league darling, Tim Tebow, in the second round.

This is the third consecutive season fans have been given the opportunity to select the cover athlete of the Madden video game series.
In 2010, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Bress topped Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne and Vikings defense end Jared Allen in a three-way vote.
In 2011, in the first year of bracket tournament, Cleveland running back Peyton Hillis was the surprising winner, beating Eagles quarterback Michael Vick in the finals.
Hillis missed six games last season with various injuries, running for just 587 yards and three touchdowns for the Browns. His lack of production added to the mythology of the Madden curse, which implies the cover athlete is destined for a season marred by injury or poor performance
Some Lions supporters have already started a Facebook group to encourage fans of the team to vote against any Detroit player to avoid the potential curse.

If he wins the first round, I'm going to be on my knee pulling a Tebow for, well Tebow.

I'm putting my money on Gronk or Newton to be the next Madden victim.

I hope Willis is on the cover. Dude deserves it.
PS- I don't believe in the curse, or any curse for that matter. If P.Manning or Jamaal Charles was on the cover, you would probably assume curse too. Don't be silly.

Barry didn't get hurt the year he was on the cover. Of course he retired before the season started...but he didn't get injured.

He quit at the time that screwed the Lions most. for a guy with such class that came as a shock to most of us. (but the curse consistancy is still there though...the dude didn't play through the season... )

I'm a strong believer in the curse! Plague the saints please choose their players! Put some bounty napkins on the cover.

ESPN.com wrote: 'Madden 13:' Rodgers and Johnson advance
April, 4, 2012 / 11:18 AM ET By Kevin Seifert It's getting serious, folks.
In results we learned a short time ago, two NFC North players are among the final eight candidates for the cover of "Madden 13." Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson have each advanced to the third round of voting. Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen lost handily in the second round to New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Rodgers now faces Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice for a chance to reach the semifinals. Johnson will take on Gronkowski in voting that will take conclude April 11. We'll then spend a week on the semifinals and another week on the finals before we learn the winner on or around April 25. Time to get out your voodoo dolls. Don't tempt fate!!
