 Wishing and wanting 2012
OK. after less than normal internet scouting, here is the wish list for 2012:
rd 1 - S. Gilmore; D. Kirkpatrick; M. Barron rd 2 - A. Silatolu; V. Curry; H. Smith rd 3 - B. Jones; B. Brooks; Z. Brown rd 4- C. Polk; D. Molk rd 5- Z. Sanders; B. Washington rd 7- BPA x2
flame away...

 Re: Wishing and wanting 2012
Mine goes like this in this:
1)Barron, Kirkpatrick, Stephen Gilmore, Vinny Curry 2)Doug Martin, Harrison Smith, Silatolu, Bobbie Massie 3)Janoris Jenkins (if he falls this far), Brandon Boykin, Ben Jones 4,5,7) BPA
I dont see Barron, Kirkpatrick, or Gilmore being there at 23, so Id be happy with Curry.

flame away... If Gilmore, Kirkpatrick and Barron were gone in round one, then I'd expect the Lions to look at Glenn, Konz, Martin or the top rated DE left. I like the choices in round two, but think all three will be gone by that time. Brandon Washington is a good option here, because he can play guard or center (he won't last until round five, and neither will Zebrie Sanders). Round three will depend on who was taken in the first two rounds. Ben Jones would be a good pick, but only if Philip Blake is gone already. Brandon Brooks is solid as well. I'm not at all interested in Zach Brown, and think he'll be gone sometime in round two anyways. Round four, I hate both options you listed. I don't think Polk is going to be any good in the NFL, at all. He just doesn't seem like an NFL caliber back. Isiah Pead or Robert Turbin would be better. And David Molk is more sizzle than steak to me. Strong guy, but that doesn't make him a good football player. He's Raiola part 2, to an even lesser extent. I'd be looking at strictly BPA from here on out. Neither guy you show would be that to me. Janzen Jackson is the guy I'd like to see the Lions target in round four, if he's on the board and if they haven't taken a safety at that point. I liked what I saw of him at the Combines. Justin Bethel is another player I liked, and he could be there. Big corner, could be moved to safety. Small school sleeper.

I dont see Barron, Kirkpatrick, or Gilmore being there at 23, so Id be happy with Curry. Afraid I agree about the top secondary talent being gone. But, feel that there is sufficient talent at CB and S we could take from the 2nd to 5th, to develop. Like all your picks in the 2nd round.

 Re: Wishing and wanting 2012
Every year I create a list of players I like for the Lions prior to the draft. The emphasis for me is on players selected after the 1st round, the not so obvious picks. I am listing areas of need only.
By position and not in any particular order.
Offense
O-line Bobbie Massie OT Amini Silatou OG Brandon Brooks OG Senio Kelemete OG Brandon Washington OG Tom Compton OT Levy Adcock OT
Think it's imperative the Lions begin to address improving the talent of this playing group. Did not list any Centers, it's a weak class this year, wait til next.
WR T.Y. Hilton Florida International Marvin Jones California Danny Coale Virginia Tech Devon Wylie Fresno State
Have to admit, don't know a great deal about this years class, but we do need a 4th, and a guy with return skills wouldn't hurt.
RB David Wilson Virginia Tech Cyrus Gray Texas A&M Ronnie Hillman San Diego State
If they take one early I like Wilson, but don't see the need to take one that early.
Defense
CB Janoris Jenkins North Alabama Brandon Boykin Georgia Jayron Hosley Virginia Tech Josh Robinson Central Florida Trumaine Johnson Montana Josh Norman Coastal Carolina Keith Tandy West Virginia Jeremy Jones Wayne State
We need corners BADLY, everyone knows this, hopefully the Lions take a couple. Jenkins might go round 1, but you never know.
S Brandon Taylor LSU Antonio Allen South Carolina Brandon Hardin Oregon State Sean Richardson Vanderbilt
Mr. Mayhew, At least one Safety please.
LB Lavonte David Nebraska Bobby Wagner Utah State Demario Davis Arkansas State Tahir Whitehead Temple
Really like David, plays faster than he times because he's so instinctive.
Won't bother addressing the D-line, feel we could stand pat and be just fine.

 Re: Wishing and wanting 2012
..an awesome job by me, prediciting exactly zero of the Lions picks.. By the way, anyone have any idea where Janzen Jackson ended up? I don't think any of the FA guys I wanted ended up here either. Good thing I don't get to pick the team I guess..

I liked him, and thought he worked out really well at the Combines.
