 Re: UDFA Signings
Green was charged with buying alcohol for minors back in August. Paterno suspended him indefinitely following this incident. He was reinstated to the team mid-season after his teammates pleaded with the coaching staff to let him play again.
When the media asked Paterno for the reason for Green's suspension, Paterno wasn't allowed to discuss Green's legal situation. Paterno answered "Stephfon's got a problem with me [...]." That phrasing makes it sound like an attitude problem although really Paterno was just trying to dodge a question he wasn't allowed to answer. Of course there may have been attitude problems too--I have no idea. The fact that his teammates wanted him back on the team might say something about how his teammates viewed him.

And let's remember, Best was ONLY cleared to work out, not to play. If he doesn't get clearance to play, Green's chances of making the team just increased to about 75%. I think Stefan Logan is going to be the one that gets axed.

Broyles, hopefully, can be a return specialist AND make plays on offense. Green sure looks fast--I agree with TLB that he might be an Aaron Brown type. If he makes the roster as an UDFA, that's great value.

 Re: UDFA Signings
Can somebody explain why RB Chris Polk, Washington, went undrafted?

It sounds like our plans for this kid are more inline with him being a # 2 Wr than a kr/pr guy.

 Re: UDFA Signings
The point is that the new returner will probably be a contributor on either offense of defense--not just a returner. That's why I think Logan will be gone next year. If Stephfon Green finds a roster spot as a RB, I could definitely see him doubling as a returner. I only mentioned Broyles because he'll definitely make the roster, will have a role as a WR, and Schwartz mentioned him as a possible punt returner.

I was hoping we would look at Ron Brooks for that reason. He would definitely be a #4 Cb, and he's a great Pr/Kr guy, fast as hell. That said, I really don't think it's prudent to have your #2 Wr returning kicks (I'm not saying that Broyles is that, but if that is in fact his future role or vision I'd prefer we just stick to the plan instead of potentially getting him injured for a few Pr/Krs). I could see Stephfon Green making the team over Logan, even if he's just taking the Pr/Kr duties away. Logan hasn't done beans for the last two seasons. Personally, I'm done with him.

But injuries that prevent players playing didn't stop Mayhew in the 2nd rd. Polk is really nothing special. He doesn't have break away speed, he has the injury history Pablo mentioned, and he was described as "soft" during the Combine weigh ins. He doesn't possess elite power, doesn't have really good vision or instincts.....he just isn't a stand out player. I never understood why some analysts were rating him as a second or third round prospect. I rated him as a 5-7 round prospect. He fell beyond that, so I guess I was being optimistic for him.
