Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
Who do you think is currently our biggest rival? I thought this would be a fun discussion to have since it's been so long since we've been good enough to have one.

Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
thats really hard to answer.....I'd say the pack...but they dont look at us that way. same with the Bears.
The sad truth is the Lions havn't had a big enough impact for us to be a serious rival to others. any rivalry we're bvuilt didn't last long enough to really have an impact. Nw? I'd like to think we're on par with the bears. the 9'rs dont give 2 farts about us at this point so that can't be considered IMO.

The sad truth is that the Pack and Bears consider each other to be rivals WAY before us. However, we have been playing each other every year for the last 78 years. Maybe we aren't thier BIGGEST rival, but we are a rival.

Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
from our perspective I said da Bears. Very long rivalry and at least now the team that is closest to us in terms of talent level. They have Rod M, had Mike M, and some former players as well which adds to the rivalry. Also the closest city from a proximity standpoint so fans can travel back and forth.

Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
I posted a comment already. But, for some reason it didn't show up.
Definitely Chicago.
It was in Chicago that we lost out on a playoff birth, (if we had won we were in the playoffs), on a last second FG. That sent us spiraling into a decade otherwise known as the Millen era. It was in Chicago that Marty took the wind. It was in Chicago that the No-win-completion took place.
Most of our worst nightmares took place in Chicago.
Chicago is called the windy city because they just blow!

Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
I said Chicago--that game in Chi. last year was downright nasty. That being said, nothing would please me more than Suh or Fairley destroying that smug f***er Aaron Rodgers.

Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
to be honest we should be rivals of TB. they used to be in our division and were in the gutter with us and made similar moves to crawl out of it. They arn't right now...but they should be our rivals at the moment.

Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
I say Chicago, and after this season, itll be 2 MNF games with them...should only make it more of a rival.

Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
Good question.
For us it's Chicago. For Chicago it's Green Bay. For Green Bay it's Chicago. I suspect for Minnesota it's Chicago as well; except for the recent Brett Favre years when it was Green Bay.
Everybody is out for Chicago!

Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
Ouch. Good call. I think folks are saying Chicago, but that's more recent. I really think if you look at the Lions history, Green Bay has always been a bigger rival. The Lions are CONSTENTLY compared to Green Bay, not so much Chicago (at least not until recently.
