I suspect for Minnesota it's Chicago as well; except for the recent Brett Favre years when it was Green Bay.

Everybody is out for Chicago!

I can promise you, being from minnesota, Green Bay is Minnesota's rival. There is NO competition for that spot here. Green Bay always has been and always will be Minnesota's biggest rival.

footsoldier is dead on. Beating the Packers is like winning a mini super bowl for Viking fans

Living in chicago, bears fans hate the lions and Detroit. They don't hate the fudgies or the queens as much as the kitties

The 49ers are up there because of 1 game? Wow.

They are an option that nobody has voted for, The Penguins became the Wings rival after one series, I'm not sure if it's a huge stretch.

Post Re: Who is the Lions' greatest rival?
I can see how the Lions/Bears could be the biggest rivalry right now for Lions fans. BUT if I was exclusively a Lions fan, I would pick the Packers because they are the team to beat.

For the vast majority of Bear fans, it is the Packers. There's no question about that. I don't know who people are talking to in Chicago, but as fan and being from there I'm confident it is the Packers by an overwhelming percentage. I personally hate the Vikings more than any other team, but still view the Pack as the chief rival because it is the oldest rivalry and goes back to Lambeau and Halas hating each other and pumping the rivalry forever. And then since the Farve years all that 100-year old rivalry came back bigger than ever. I don't think most Bear fans hate the Lions (or haven't until recently), and have only really viewed them as being consequential for the past few years. Now there's no question Bear fans look at the Lions as an important rivalry for contention in the division, and there is also no question that Bear fans look at Jim Schwartz as a dangerous punk who can't control his players... more than a formidable and feared football coach like McCarthy. That is important, because McCarthy has created a culture of winning, while Schwartz has been creating something...else.

I agree that to the Vikes, the Packers are the biggest rival.

Schwartz can't control his players in the off season, when they are away from FF, but Lovie is in control of his drug dealing WR at Soldier Field. I fully believe Chicago will be dangerous this year, if they can keep their receiving corps out of jail.

Yeah - the situations are comparable.

your right! I'd rather have some immature college kids who need some mentoring as compared to THAT receiving corps. But what can you expect from Chicago, they can't even run an election correctly, let alone keep their citizens safe, so I guess we'll take your word for it.

Scwartz is a dangerous punk! Which must be REALLY bad, considering how safe it is in Chi town!!!

We're talking about why fans of one team might not like another team or consider them a rival - and why. Which is what I posted.

I have no interest in your opinions about Chicago, or relative public safety, or pot.

Yes, that's almost exactly what I said. They are "up there", meaning, I can't believe they are even considered and not one person has thought it was silly, other than me.

EDIT: A series is several games, so that doesn't really surprise me.

You know I.E. I don't know what it is about our conversations, but we always seem to want to knuckle up, and I'm not that man anymore. So I'm going to bow out of this discussion, and again offer my apology for seeking to agrevate you through my response. Be blessed, and maybe someday we'll figure out how to be civil without arguing.

Exactly. In fact, Minnesota vs Wisconsin rival states.

For us, I feel it's now just the Bears.

Red Wings and Penguins one is different. We won the cup on there ice in 08, next year they won the cup on our home ice in 09 (Crosby Sucks). Series in a way is 1-1.

I think there's also a sense that both teams are going to be good for the forseeable future, so I think people expect we could be meeting in the playoffs for years to come. Our coaches don't like each other, our players don't like each other, etc.
