 Re: The Megatron Effect
LOL that is awesome! Smith could have casually walked over and stood on the goal line to catch that one!

 Re: The Megatron Effect
St. Louis blew the coverage. They didn't intend for five guys to cover two people and leave Smith wide open. One of the players (likely the closest one) was supposed to stay in the flat to cover Smith (I think it's Dunbar). The player screwed up.
Even Schwartz admitted that the play was intended to go to Calvin, so St. Louis was in the right defense. But in the game of football, if one guy doesn't do his job correctly, it costs the team.

 Re: The Megatron Effect
most people dont think about it like this but Calvin is JUST as valuable when he doesn't catch the ball. He needs to be double covered almost every play. when that happens SOMEONE is going to be open.

He beats the double bracket at the line, but I think Stafford was patient and didn't force it. Had he not thrown the 3 interceptions earlier, he probably would have tried to squeeze it in there.

Even Schwartz admitted that the play was intended to go to Calvin, so St. Louis was in the right defense. But in the game of football, if one guy doesn't do his job correctly, it costs the team. It is Dunbar who drifted back rather than covering the flat. And there is a safety in the back of the endzone covering Scheffler; in this image it looks like that guy is moving toward Calvin but really he's just trailing Scheffler. However, it doesn't change the fact that three guys are assigned to Calvin. That means when Dunbar made a mistake, there was no one available to clean up the mess. It's a great example of why Calvin doesn't need to catch a TD in order to affect the game.

The photo is my new wallpaper on my computer. I didn't see that during the game. I will definitely pass this on to some folks.
