It looks like our season is over as a result of the league's worst special teams units and a lackluster offense. Our special teams coach should be fired within 15 minutes after the end of the game and the rest of the coaching staff needs to be looked at.

I woke up early on a workday to watch this game, and I know it's only the end of the 3rd quarter, but I don't know if I even want to pay attention to this team anymore.

I'd agree if that was the only thing struggling but it dont matter if we give up 5 return TD, 6 points isnt gonna cut it in the NFL. Offense needs to be fixed I don't get it

Playcalling. Were just not good at it. Whats thw rost part of Lions GP. ALways the start right. The scripted part where the OC had a week to prepare it.

The Lions offense only goes when we Uncork the passing game, usually once we are already in a giant hole. Linehan needs to get out of the way of the talent he already has that he keeps under wraps.

Say what you want about the offense, but take the special teams TDs off the scoreboard, and we win the last two games.

13 points on offense, with 7 on a garbage time TD, is awful for any team - let alone a team with the picks, salary etc invested in the offense that we have. Where's the offense of last season?

Both the ST and Offense were bad. These late game heroics need to be opening drive scores.

I don't see how anyone can blame the special teams coach. Our team's philosophy is to not play starters on special teams. It's not the schemes that are failing, it's a lack of talent, period. The ST coach can only do so much with garbage.

The season isn't over. The next four games will determine that.

I understand wanting a scapegoat but firing a coach mid season doesn't accomplish much. Indeed there are a lot of young players on ST and they've been exposed. You really need your backups and rookies to be the core of ST but the inexperience has been costly so far. It will be interesting to see if personnel changes are made to the coverage units over the next two weeks.

If anything, it makes things an even more mess right now.

I'd say take some bright young guy already on the staff (LB coach Matt Burke?) and give him a shot at coaching STs. I think it's hard to do worse than what we have.

And wjb, outside of KR/PR, I don't see teams using starters on special teams. In the NFL, that's always been how 3rd and 4th stringers make the team.

However, it also sends a message. This will not be tolerated. And I can't imagine more of a mess than allowing four returns for TDs in two weeks.

I don't know if Crossman is the issue or not. Players play the games. But the ST coach IS the one who decides what players are on what coverage teams. And if guys aren't getting it done, they need to be replaced.

I disagree entirely. If firing the ST coach needs to be done ( and there a 4 reasons over the past 2 weeks for it to happen) now is the IDEAL time to do it. With the bye week looming they have 2 weeks to get the new system undeer wraps. let be honest, it's ST. their not going to reinvent the wheel, 2 weeks should be adequate for them to learn how to stop SOMEBODY.

FWIW according to Schwartz' post-game remarks it's not the scheme but the players, which if true would mean that Danny's not going anywhere.
