Re: GAME DAY THREAD: Lions vs. Packers I
Stafford throwing has pissed me off to the max this year, missed so many wide open passes. I say the loss is on him when Linehan not far behind him.

Re: GAME DAY THREAD: Lions vs. Packers I
I was on the floor praying, and my prayers were answered. Thank you Lord.
Glad it is over and the Packers do not have to play in Detroit until next season.
In a mistake filled game the Packers made a couple fewer mistakes.
I know how being on the losing side of a game like that can really bug you. Just a couple of plays with different outcomes could have changed the results.
I'm thankful and do not intend to rub any salt in a sensitive wound of pissed off fans.
The rematch is in 3 weeks, outdoors, at night, at a cold Lambeau Field. I wish you well in all your remaining games except that one.

Re: GAME DAY THREAD: Lions vs. Packers I
People can criticize & shift the deck chairs (Linehan), but the team's overall readiness & performance is on the Head Coach. I think Schwartz is a transitional coach... meaning he came in to start some winning & energize the team with some new attitude. But I don't think he's a top-caliber coach, and I place the player's inconsistency squarely on him. I don't think he can "get better" - I think he's a lot like Ron Rivera, in that he did what he was capable of doing - now it is time to bring in a coach to get the team to the next level.
The Lions have a lot of talent (need some more in the secondary - but that can be addressed), and just need a HC that can get them to the next level.

So who do you recommend, because I think the pickings are slim....

I don't see another HC out there, that would be an improvement on Schwartz. Although, IF Reid is out in Philly... you just might have to consider that.

One positive thing: Fairley is apparently waking up.

Re: GAME DAY THREAD: Lions vs. Packers I
The Walrus would be a very good choice. He's a good coach, and might be able to get a lot more & more consistency out of Stafford. He probably needs a year off, though - for personal reasons.... although there are a lot of rumours about him being Dallas-bound.
Gruden or Cowher would be no-brainers. Jimmy Johnson is probably too comfortable - but he's another guy. Too bad there's not another Harbaugh brother. lol

Re: GAME DAY THREAD: Lions vs. Packers I
The problem isn't the coordinator - it is the execution and constistency. That's the Head Coach.

Oh I know, probably not going to happen, but I would love to see it happen.

Re: GAME DAY THREAD: Lions vs. Packers I
USA Today wrote: Detroit Lions coaches have heated exchange on sideline
The tensions are boiling over in 4-6 Detroit.
Late in the Lions' 24-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers, wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson got in the face of offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to yell about wide receiver Titus Young.
The lip readers at the Detroit Free Press think Jefferson yelled, "take him out, I can't do it no more," which suggests that the anger was less at Linehan than the erratic Young, who was unsuccessfully targeted twice on the previous possession.
Stafford had just thrown four straight incompletions to give the ball back to Green Bay with 1:13 on the clock. Jefferson yelling at Linehan is the "highlight" of the clip, but the schadenfreude of the close-up shot of a dispirited Matthew Stafford is not to be discounted. It's how I imagine most Georgia fans will look in two weeks at the SEC championship when Alabama scores its 35th point of the first half.
