Post Playoffs? Not out of the realm of possibilities
OK, now I am a dreamer.
First and foremost the Lions MUST win out and finish at 9-7

Teams ahead of Lions for wild card birth:

Saints at 5-7
Week 13 Bye
Week 14 NY giants, count this as a loss, Saints now 5-8 out of the hunt (if detroit wins out)
Week 15 Tampa.....This is a must win game for the Saints (for us) Tampa is our biggest threat if we win out.
Week 16 Dallas
Week 17 Carolina
Just cannot see saints winning out and finishing 9-7......But yes (dreamer) I see the Lions winning out.

Dallas at 5-6
Week 13 Philly, would love to see the eagles win this but don't see it happening
Week 14 Cinn, count this as a win for Cinn. Dallas now has 7 losses
Week 15 Pitt, come on Pitt win this one for the Lions
Week 16 Saints, playing for pride Saints win, Dallas now with 8 losses
Week 17 Washington, Who cares who wins Dallas has 8 losses already but we may need a Dallas win here.
So as you can see....as I can, Dallas will lose 2 of these games and have 8 losses on the season.

Washington at 5-6
Week 13 NY, counting this as a loss for the Skins, now they are at 5-7
Week 14 Ravens, counting on the Birds, Skins now at 5-8 and Done.
Week 15 Browns, who cares unless Washington some how wins 1 of the previous games.
Week 16 Eagles, again who cares
Week 17 Dallas, Dallas may need to win this on for us
So again 8 losses and as you know Detroit will have only 7: Done

Minn at 6-5
Week 13 GB, GB takes care of one for us, Minn now at 6-6
Week 14 Chicago, Bears win this for us, Minn now at 6-7
Week 15 Rams, could use Minn to win this one, Minn now at 7-7, but may need a rams win but doubt it
Week 16 Houston, Houston wins putting Minn out of the hunt at 7-8
Week 17 GB, GB wins Minn now 7-9
I think we all could realistically see Minn losing 4 of there last 5 but all we need is 3 losses: Done

Seattle at 6-5: We hold the first tiebreaker here
Week 13 Chicago, come on bears we are rooting for you here!! Seattle now 6-6
Week 14 Arizona, looks like a Seattle win, 7-6
Week 15 Bills, would love to see a Bills win but as you see below Seattle will have 7 losses
Week 16 SF, 9ers win this Seattle now with 7 losses
Week 17 Rams, who cares.
need 2 losses and ya, we can all see that Can't we?? Done with 7 losses

Arizona at 4-7
Week 13 J....E...T...S, JETS-JETS-JETS
Week 14 Seattle, see above
Week 15 Bills
Week 16 Chicago, Again Bears all Lions fans rooting for ya.
Week 17 SF....Just in case SF wins
So no way in Heck Zona doesn't lose 1 of these. Done with 8 losses

Rams at 4-6-1 The tie is basically a loss
Week 13 SF, SF wins Rams can now have only 8 wins on the year. DONE
Week 14 Bills, rooting for any AFC team
Week 15 Minn, Minn more than likely wins this
Week 16 Tampa, really rooting for the Rams in this one.
Week 17 Seattle, May need the Rams in this one But I doubt it.
week 13 is the down fall of the Rams losing to SF makes it only possible for the Rams to get to 8 wins + detroit holds tiebreaker over them any who how.

Tampa at 6-5 our biggest concern for the last WC birth (GB has the first)
Week 13 Denver, Need a Denver win here really bad. Tampa now 6-6
Week 14 Eagles, See a Tampa win here
Week 15 NO, Playing for pride, NO wins this one Tampa now 7-7
Week 16 Rams, Love to see a Rams win here..........
Week 17 Atlanta, Gotta have you Atlanta, don't rest your starters....They'll get stale with a bye in the playoffs. Atl. wins.Tampa now with 8 losses DONE

All hinges on Lions winning out. Can they?????? Sure. Will they??? I have my doubts. Lets just get a win this sunday and if everything happens the way I believe it can this weekend, it really muddies up the playoff picture doesn't it. Make for a fun end of the season anyway.

I'll update after the weekend.
Going to see the Lions this Sunday. SEC 121

And, if the extended forecast proves correct, the tundra will not be frozen.

And please, I want the Packers radio guy to choke on that blasted dagger.

I see what you did, but I think the Lions' biggest threat is their own schedule.

5 games left against. 4 of those games are against playoff teams. And not even teams on the cusp of the playoffs, but teams that everyone is already thinking made the playoffs: Indy, Green Bay, Atlanta, Chicago... that's not good.

I think you gotta be a realist man. Sure, it's not over... but that fat lady is warming up.

I don't see it happening. We didn't win the kind of games we won last year and it killed our chances. There's only so many times you can start slow and come back to win. Turnovers and special teams accounted for 4 loses on the season. If we had won any two out of the Bears, Titans, Texans, the first Vikings game, or the Packers game, all of which were very winnable, we'd more than be in the hunt. I see us finishing with 3 more wins at most out of our remaining brutal schedule. I'd like to dream, but I'm a realist. Something has to be done to get this team to start strong a play a complete game in all three phases.

If the Lions knew how to close out 4th quarters and the refs gave us half the help they give opposing teams we'd have a completely different season by now.

Turn it into a draft tracker thread. We're in 7th right now but I think we can get to top 5.

I am so sick of "we are going for a draft pick" mentality. So sick...

I never said we're going for a draft pick. That's my prediction for how it's going to turn out. Even when we have a game in hand we lose and we have 3 games left against playoff teams, so I don't see us moving down any further, only up.

then go for the "we are going for a new coach" mentaility bc it could make a huge difference for this team. schwartz is losing these guys and fast.

And that mentality has to be medicated out of everyone's system. If you keep changing coaches/systems and then your roster to fit that system, you will never win. Under that philosophy, Bill Cower would not have had the chance to complete the Steeler's return to dominance.

We are only a couple of DB's away from Super Bowl Contention, people. Let's not get all bent out of shape. Some of us were saying before the season that the Lions would take a step back this year. And it's not just the Lions that this has happened to. Several teams have taken a step back the season after they finally make the playoffs.

This season could prove to be the best thing that could have happened to the Lions. They will be in a great draft position to Finally get the lock down CB that they so desperately need.

On top of that, given people's expectations, the failures of this season should be a bitter pill for each player to swallow. And hopefully, it will sit in the pit of their stomach for the remainder of their careers so that they never let this happen again.

Umm, Houston, avril, levy, Durant, delmas, Florence, SLH, etc are all FAs. Why would any one of them resign? We have a ton of holes after this season. Here's a list...and these aren't depth guys, were talking starters for the most part.

2 safeties
1 cb at minimum (and a #1 cb to boot)
2 LBers
1 DE (at min)
1 DT
1 RT
1 RG
1 WR (if Nate gets cut which is likely, and Titus gets canned, and now broyles has a bad wheel)

I have no faith this team will win a game the rest of the year. The kitties finish at 7-9 and Miss the playoffs as GB wins out and takes it from the kitties.
