From what I've heard his stock has slightly dropped since his numbers or whatever have declined through the course of the season. Is that because they havent been throwing his way? I dont know. WJB - Last year Te'o had 2 good games in your opinion. Thats why he didnt enter the draft last year, so he could stick it out another year and improve his game - Which he definitely did. Every single game hes played this year hes had solid contributions. JUST because Curry didnt pan out doesnt mean every single LB isnt going to. If Patrick Willis came out again, would you take him top 10? I know I would. Because JaMarcus Russel busted, does that mean the Raiders would never take a QB number one overall again? And remember, he was the once in a lifetime QB. I understand what your saying, so im not trying to start an argument. Trust me. But so far, I see no CB, and especially no safety, worth taking in the top 10, or even over Te'o talent wise. A lot of this is going to depend on Free Agency. Obviously, Tulloch will be back. And hopefully Durant. Hopefully Levy wont. He sucks. But lets say Levy AND Durant both leave. Now what? We will be back to need another 2 starting LBs, cuz we surely dont have anyone to step into their spots next year. I am quite confident Te'o could instantly start at either of those spots and probably be an upgrade. NOW - This conversation means nothing in a few months. Once the combine hits, and pro days, and other workouts the whole draft board is gonna be flipped upside down due to fast and slow 40 times, bench press, both good and bad interviews, breaking stories on how one of the prospects hit his girlfriend or got caught smoking a doobie whether they are true or not....etc. Who knows. By April, freakin CJ Mosely could shoot up draft boards and then it will be HIM theyre talking as a top 10 pick. Remember Mark Barron? Im just saying, RIGHT NOW, and pre-Free Agency, and what I see in the Lions games this year, that Manti Te'o would be a perfect fit in Detroit. And lets also remember, we still have 4 games to go. And i wouldnt doubt SOME mock draft is gonna convince us to take freakin Matt Barkley. You know just as well as I do that Mayhew is probably going to surprise us with someone else anyway.

KSD, by saying he had 2 good games last year, I meant the season that you are currently referring to as "this season." This football season ended for ND after they played USC, with the Bowl Game being more akin to a playoff game. I don't count games against sub-par teams as "good games." Even if they play well against crappy talent it's not the same as playing well against even good COLLEGE talent, let alone NFL talent.

Ok WJB, so tell me, at this point who would YOU want the Lions to take if we are top 10? Not a position, because Id like that position too, but what name?

It's just way, way too early to speculate. We have no idea where we'll be picking, and the talent pool simply hasn't fermented enough to be able to say who's "worthy" of a top 10 pick. Additionally, perhaps even more so than it other years the "underclassman" are going to determine the "strength" of this draft. The Bowl games are some of the most challenging that some teams face, and you can sometimes separate "good" players from "great" players watching how they play in the biggest games of their careers. At the combines you'll learn whether or not some of these guys have or don't have "NFL" caliber speed, and what their true measurements are. People fall in love with low 40 times, and they put too much stock in whether one guy ran a 4.47 and another ran a 4.52, but if they don't have the requisite speed necessary to compete in the NFL, it matters. Further, college teams lie about their player's sizes, repeatedly. Someone that is said to be 6'2" that measures in at 5'11" will looked at differently after the combine. That said, I'm interested to see how the following players play, and perform and measure up in their bowl game and combine respectively: Bjoern Werner Jarvis Jones Dee Milliner All of those players are at the top, or near the top of the talent pool of their respective positions, and all are juniors. A top ranked OT is also a Jr., as well as a top ranked FS (Reid), WR (Allen), and TE (Eifert). Those 7 guys are going to have a huge influence in the first round of this years draft. There is also a top ranked SS and RB right behind them, but they may not influence the first round.

Re: Pre-2013 NFL Draft: The Detroit Lions select Eric Reid,
I love all 3 guys you mentioned WJB, especially Bjoern Werner. I think he is by far the best 4-3 DE in this class. Im also interested in Jarvis Jones and wonder how he could fit in a 4-3, if possible.
Wondering if Dee Milliner is THAT good, or is he just the best IN THIS CLASS. Could he upgrade the Lions CB's?

BTW, if the draft were tomorrow, we'd be picking 8th.
